Guest guest
Actually, it's more of a dairy question.... Why cottage cheese and not, say, yogurt? (I'm thinking yogurt & flax would be easier for me to get my kids to eat...) Also, 1% fat (skim) or 4% (regular) cottage cheese? Is mixing with a spoon ok or must it be completely emulsified in the blender? Thanks! Mindy

And I'm thinking beyond dairy. It never occured to me to mix flax oil with cottage cheese. (What's that joke? A woman turns to her friend and saids, " Here. Taste this cottage cheese. Does it taste like its gone bad? " And her friend replies, " Cottage cheese doesn't go bad. It comes that way. " ) I've tried putting it in my otherwise plain goat's milk yogurt but I've found it lacking taste wise. I can't imagine a child agreeing to its consumption in that medium. Freshly ground flax seeds (done in my designated flax seed coffee grinder) are a nice addition to the yogurt with some fresh fruit but how many tablespoons of seeds would I have to grind to get a theraputic amount of oil? I've been using flax oil as I would any oil on salads or cooked vegetables along with a spray of liquid aminos or tamari sauce. I pour a dab of it in my otherwise oil free miso soup after ladeling a bowl. So my question also, what's so special about the flax oil and cottage cheese blend?
