Guest guest
I have only just joined this group: Hello to all! My fields of interest are: €health, medicine and nutrition in general €nutitional supplements €natural vision improvement. I wanted to post here something I discovered while I was in India on business. I visited that country 3 times during the past 3 years, and I therefore got a real look at their culture and some of the medical practices there. A generation ago polio was ubiquitous. I met many people my own age or younger (I am 49) who had contacted polio and are lifelong cripples, navigating around on some kind of modified seated bicycle. Many of these people had contracted polio while in the womb and were ill with it at birth. Many babies died or were stillborn, as polio can paralyze the muscles that allow one to breathe as well as the legs. Apparently, pregnant women are especially vulnerable to polio, and so are their developing fetuses. Everyone there now get vaccinated against polio. And in India they are given vaccination " boosters " while pregnant as well. I was shocked to hear this as I believe this is NOT the policy in the USA. I know that there are side effects to vaccinations in some cases, but You cannot fathom the effect of polio and other infectious disease on a country like this unless you have been there. I have changed my way of thinking and I now believe that vaccinations are necessary, if not without possible complications. Francine
