I used to have bursitis real bad in the hips. I was put on a NSAID

(forget which one). I started having problems with my breathing and

horrible nightmares. My breathing got ok as soon as I stopped the

drug, but it took a while to get rid of the nightmares.

The next step for me was cortisone injections into the joints. In

answer to my quesitons, yes, they hurt, and no, they aren't always

effective. According to the doctor a lot depends on the skill of the

doctor giving the shots.

That's when I decided to find an alternative. I tried hot castor oil

packs, and they actually worked better than the NSAID did. The NSAID

wore off after a few hours. After using the castor oil packs for 2

days, no more bursitis for several months. When it threatens now

(can't remember the last time), I reach for the castor oil, some

fannel, and a heating pad.
