1. My mother is on chemotherapy, and of course, she has a lot of nausea. Are there any recommendations for helping relieve nausea related to chemotherapy.

You could try ginger root . Siberian Ginseng also is reputed to be good when enduring chemo.

The main herb recommended to combat the effects of chemotherapy is marijuana.

Of course that's a lousy medicine -- its side effects are unacceptable, to say

the least. But when someone succumbs to the temptation to have that nasty

procedure done, they might as well succumb to doing a justifiably illegal drug

as well. At least that's one way to look at it. Personally i think

chemotherapy is not a particularly good idea in the first place, and that we

can find numerous viable alternatives if we would only look.

As for melatonin, that is an interesting phenomenon. What is needed in this

case is to find out why you're having trouble sleeping. It could be any

number of things. Getting to the root cause is very important. Just taking

an herb for the problem is, in this case, the same as taking some doctor's

prescription just because he said so. You really need to look into this,

which means figuring out what is different about the nights you can't sleep,

if possible, and also what is reacting in your body. Sometimes certain foods

will trigger sleeplessness. In my own case, i can't sleep if i eat something

with MSG in it during the evening.

2. Melatonin- I use it Occasionally when I have trouble sleeping. However,

it only seems to work for a couple of hours. Then, I am wide awake. Any

thoughts on why this would be?

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Linda, for the 1st suggest you start with Doc's Total Tonic, Heart Formula and Cayenne Tincture. Hawthorne and cayenne being the most important for any kind of heart problems. Then, of course, diet and exercise and a good cleanse would do wonders. And I know doc has patients who had (had being the operative word) diabetes and are cured now ;-)

2nd Total Nutrition in the files, astragalus in it will boost immunity. Sounds like she gets plenty of exercise, what about her diet? I think Doc would have more answers for her though, as they have robbed her of the very glands that produce the immunity she is missing.

[herbal remedies] two questions

I have two questions to ask the list members. First, my brother is having a problem with rapid heart beat. He is 39 years old, diagnosed with adult onset diabetes, treated by diet I believe. His pulse is 150 and he says his doctor isn't concerned about it, but it is making my brother's life difficult. Anyone know of a way to slow down the heart to a reasonable level so that he can function? He is not a really active person although he does ride his 10-speed bike to work as often as he can, which would be about 4 miles a day. He works in a restaurant as a dough maker. He is about 5'9" tall, very thin, non-smoker, non-drinker.My second question regards a friend who had a radical mastectomy about 5 years ago. She was treated by radiation, instead of chemo. She suffers a dry cough constantly and a lot of pain in her armpit and upper arm where they stripped out all the glands. She is a physically active woman, walks a lot, gardens, tends her farm animals, belongs to a Dragon Boat Race team and is about 60 years old. I believe she is getting some physical therapy for problems with hip pain and arm pain. Her immune system is absolutely shot because of all the radiation treatments she got so she catches colds and flu's really easy. Can you suggest something that she might be able to try to build her immune system up, or at least bolster it a bit? Any sugggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help, Janet, I really appreciate it. Today my brother finally got a call from his doctor (he went for tests in September) and the dr. told him the problem is one of the upper chambers of the heart is beating faster then the others so he's going send him to a heart specialist that specialises in regulating heart beats!! However, having lost all faith in allopathic medicine, I don't hold out much hope. He is afraid they will want to operate to fix the problem. I will give him the information you told me, and keep talking to him about trusting in herbal medicine. The problem is he lives a thousand miles away from me so we communicate via e-mail and sometimes thru MSN.

And thank you so much for the info for my friend who had cancer. She eats a fairly healthy diet. they raise all their own food and meat including geese, turkeys, chickens and their eggs. He is a hunter, taking only what they can use themselves, but that includes bear <gak> deer, wild geese and ducks etc. To say they have adventurous palates is putting it mildly. Nothing goes to waste. Anyway, I will print out your info and suggest it to her. Hopefully she will give it a try.

Thanks again.

I have a question. Is coumadin too serious a medication to be fooling with when it comes to herbal remedies? I'd sure like to see my hubby get off it once and for all. He has to take 7.5 M-F and 5 on sat & sun. It's for excessive microscopice blood clots in the capillaries of his lungs. Very rare from what we were told. I'd sure like to find a different way to keep his blood thinned and at the right level to get him off this coumadin.

No problem Linda, I hope it gives your brother an alternative to slice and dice. And bear *GAK* is right! LOL! Your friend is adventurous. A good positive spirit goes a long way with any health problems though :-)

I have been asked two supplement related questions by two

different people. I feel I know the answers to both questions, but

do not have time to look things up right now & would rather not give

an off-the-cuff reply. Any URLs would be appreciated.

Thanks.
