Tainted blood: Red Cross charged

November 21, 2002

 

POLICE have filed charges against four doctors, the Red Cross and a US

pharmaceutical company after a five-year investigation into a tainted

blood

scandal that saw thousands of Canadians infected with HIV and

hepatitis.

 

The Canadian charges include criminal negligence causing bodily harm,

which

carries a maximum 10-year prison sentence.
