Guest guest
Hi Group, I'm new to the group and would like to thank Frank for turning me on to it. I'm trying to learn healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety after a horrific experience with benzodiazepine tranquilizers and the addiction and withdrawal associated with them. I'm trying a B vitamin supplement along with Vitamin C. It is a fairly high dose, I think. I do notice feeling more energetic, less fatigued and a little better at concentrating. So thats great. But I also feel a little too stimulated. Just a bit shaky and light headed. That is something I don't like. I'm wondering if this is just temporary as I get used to the supplements or will it remain like this. Should I cut them in half for now? The dosage is B-100 if that helps and 500 mgs. of C. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
Guest guest
Hi Tom, Welcome to the group. As you will find out, everyone is biologically unique. We all have different requirements for nutrients although there is a broad norm. Some may be to much for one and not enough for another. On this subject see the Price Pottinger link on our link page. Almost all nutrients are better when taken in smaller mutiple doses over the day. That is the way that our bodies need and effectively use nutrients from our food. Vitamin taking should follow the way nature ( think food) intended as closely as possible. Do you have a pill cutter? As for your B vitamin. It is good to take a basic low dose B vitamin and supplement it with the individuals unique needs for some of the Bs individually. Some people require more Niacin, as an example, while others may need something else. Some Bs can be very stimulating while others are calming. They need to be taken together in a complex as they act synergystically but the individual needs of each specific one is unique to that person. As well as posting to the group, to get a real good understanding about nutrition, I suggest that all here go to the Dr.yourself.com link on our links page and surf the whole site in any area that catches your interest. It is a veritable encyclopedia of nutrition information. This, I believe, is probably the best site on the web for this type information. Also, in decribing your vitamin C, if you mean that you are taking 500mg per day, then I also think that you would benefit from the vitamin C links on our links page as well. There are some really very knowledgeable people here. They are the best asset of all. kind regards, Frank Gettingwell, " Tom " <The4kerns@a...> wrote: > Hi Group, > > I'm new to the group and would like to thank Frank for turning me on > to it. Guest guest
Dear Group, This self introduction by Tom isn't a comprehensive picture of Tom. He is one of millions of accidental addicts (victum of the medical establishment is much more accurate) over the last 40 year. He is a pillar of support, compassion and guidance in a benzo group for helping people get through the turmoil and putting their life back together to those who have been damaged by benzos and big pharma. Tom, I really want to welcome you in the right way and hope that you can find some usefull help here also. I am sure that you will get a lot of information here from a lot of well meaning people. That is a start to good things in itself. kind regards, Frank Gettingwell, " Tom " <The4kerns@a...> wrote: > Hi Group, > > I'm new to the group and would like to thank Frank for turning me on > to it. Guest guest
Frank and Group, Thank you Frank and everyone for the information and the welcome. I really appreciate the help and only wish I had looked into healthier ways to deal with anxiety and stress before I went down the wrong path with benzos. It could have saved me some anguish that has been going on for years. The drugs made me sick and temporarily damaged most of my systems which takes a very long time to heal from. Fortunately I am slowly getting stronger and have recovered in many ways. I haven't always taken good care of myself. I bought into the quick fix ideas about getting well and dealing with life. I've come to learn that my body was telling me something was wrong -way before I started taking pills. It would have been smart to look at outside influences, relationship issues, work stress, over the counter meds, bad diet, caffeine intake, lack of exercise, etc. I still need to learn more about natural ways of feeling better and have started some of them recently. Of course I still have some learning to do. That is why I'm here. Guest guest
I am sure no professional & am not prescribing anything, but I sure would be taking a lot more Vitamin C than you are. Frank's post earlier today (Doctor Yourself Newsletter, Vol3#2) has some real good guidelines & links on taking Vitamin C. I especially recommend you read all the links in Frank's post. I take a multi-vitamin & mineral tablet (Mega Men by GNC) which has slightly lower potency B potency for many of the B vitamins (but slightly higher in some others as well) than a generic B-50 capsule. If feeling slightly over-stimulated, I might take a look at other things in your diet like caffeine & aspartame sweetener. One can also take a small glass of warm milk (preferably organic) when one wants to relax or sleep. Warming the milk until it starts to skin on top in the pot breaks down some of the milk proteins but not the tryptophan, which mellows one out. Also found in turkey, but milk is a better late night snack. If you have no need to monitor your blood glucose levels, try taking a 500mg niacin tablet. Your skin will flush (turn red & tingle). Feels weird at first -- almost like a sunburn, but it is an acquired taste which some find very relaxing. Hot baths are also good to mellow one out. Guest guest
Ok now I'm scared, just what does happen, I have been on 0.5 mg one pill at night for a year. Guest guest
Dear Donna, You did not say what pill that you take at night, so I'm not sure how to answer. If the pill that you take is classified as a benzodiazapine or something not classified as a benzo (technically) but is very similiar to a benzo, then I suggest that you or anyone, in fact it is good reading for everyone go to this site. Read some of the stories, (click in the left hand column). It is a real eye opener. http://www.benzo.org.uk kind regards, Frank Gettingwell, Donna <kuanyin@m...> wrote: > > Ok now I'm scared, just what does happen, I have been on 0.5 mg one pill at > night for a year.
