Guest guest
Morning Chris, If you work with food, you might be a cook, or a chef. You probably know that the best cooks often can't even write down the recipe. I used to irritate my wife when she cooked something very good. I would ask her, " Do you think you could do that again " ? Whats your recipe for trail mix .I could do >with something to nibble that is healthy as I work >with food all day. The only problem making the trailmix is finding high quality, fresh ingredients. One must be very careful and avoid premixed trailmix because in most cases the nuts are roasted in hydrogenated oils. Typically, all ingredients should be raw. Occasionally, one item might be roasted if your conscience will allow it. Even then, you should roast the nuts yourself. One point that many overlook is the fact that some type local nuts are available and fresh part of the year. A month or so ago, I purchased 4 each 50 pound bags of peanuts. These are eaten raw, boiled, and roasted. I gave several friends a few pounds because I could not use this quantity. Presently, I have been eating pecans like crazy. Even my dog is addicted to them, just like me. The trailmix recipe does change from time to time. My latest batch ( or batches ) has been unusual because my daughter send me a gift package of a number of organic nuts. The main ingredients has always been sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Sunflower seeds Pumpkin seeds Almonds Raisins English Walnuts Black Walnuts Pine Nuts Peanuts ( when fresh Raw ones are available) Brazil Nuts Optional items Chocolate chips Banana Flakes Roasted Almonds Sesame Sticks ( in the package from my daughter I had onion flavored and garlic flavored sesame sticks) These were delicious, alone or mixed in the trail mix. Like most foods and habits, you can allow evil to creep in if not careful. Certainly trailmix is no exception. We have to keep our guard up 24 hours per day to keep this from happening. Let your conscious be your guide. > I'm a vegetarian but try to keep the fat and protein up but the refined > carbs down but this severely limits choices so any new variations are welcome. This should be a natural for vegetarians. I think if more people ate trailmix, there would be more vegetarians. When you eat a few ounces of this miracle food per day, you don't want any meat, eggs, milk or anything else. On the surface, it appears expensive. Often I spend $50 to $75 when I stock up on ingredients. Compare this to other food and then it appears very economical. Over time, you will develop your own recipe to suit your taste. If you look at my trailmix page, you will see the nutrient analysis of most trailmix ingredients, plus all other foods I eat regularly. www.fugitt.com/trailmix.htm Then..... you can look at my blood analysis to see the results. I know....... it could be better but I am working on that too. www.fugitt.com/bloodrep.htm Wayne
Guest guest
Hello Wayne, Thanks for the recipe, you are right nuts really do fill you up well. I usually have a mixture of fruit nuts and a big dollop of organic cream for my breakfast and I am usually fine until lunchtime. I had a read of your website and it was very interesting. I too am interested in nutrition and it amazes me how people will drive miles to put the best oil?fuel in their cars but expect their bodies to run on junk, especially the youngsters who think that being stick thin and having no fat at all is healthy. You are right I am a cook and I work in a home for physically disabled people, often made worse by their medication and would improve with nutritional supplements but if you say anything everyone thinks you are nuts (no pun intended)We have quite a few stroke and heart people who would probably improve with mega C and other supplements but of course the medical proffesion just refuses to take nutrition into consideration. Anyway sorry for the ramble Best wishes Chris Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.
