Welcome to a great list.

You have already found first base. Making the home run will be a bit

more trouble.

First, you need to tell us more about your eating habits and any

specific problems you have.

Then.... everyone will chime in and offer their suggestions.

The hard part will be sorting them out and following the few you select.

I tell most of my friends, " no matter what ails you, you will never get

well unless you drink enough water and balance your essential fatty acids " .

I feel this is only two of the many important steps to heath. Eat more

fats and proteins, and less carbs.

That is my two bits for now.

Are you suggseting to reduce veggies, which are carbs, or grain-type carbs, or

all-type

carbs?

Evening Morton,

>Are you suggseting to reduce veggies, which are carbs, or grain-type

Note I said, " less carbs " , not zero. Many years back I had a magic

ratio in my mind for protein, fats, and carbs. As for grain type

carbs, YES, except for limited amounts of whole grains at infrequent

intervals.

This idea has not changed over 40 years of study, even though the battle

has been fought to hell and back.

This ratio is 40, 40, 20 with 20 percent being the carbs.

If one studies carbs from the diabetes and glucose standpoint, all are the

same. This includes apples, potatoes,

and candy bars. Of course we know the worthless sugars and processed

foods are what we usually mean when we say, " less carbs " .

Few people will eat enough apples, pears, plums, pears, grapes, and even

bananas for the carbs to be a problem, unless they are a diabetic or have

some metabolism problem.

Typically, I eat many meals that are only fats and protein such as venison

sausage and eggs. Some days I eat more carbs which are fruits and

vegetables. I eat a lot of raw cabbage, raw pepper, raw onions, ect.

Generally, my ideas on what one should eat are based on a healthy person

with no serious problem.

The only time I eat too much carbs is when my cantaloupes and watermelon

are ripe. Glory be ! No way to avoid that problem.

Actually, I think all aspects of nutrition are over emphasized relative to

carbs, protein and fat. The key to the whole problem is to eat the best

food you can get your hands on, whenever you can get it.

This time of year, I eat lots of pecan. I even make a meal of them. For

breakfast today, all I have was an ounce or two of trailmix. I start the

day with water. Later I had a glass of Emergen-C with added liquid

potassium and 1 teaspoon of Bilberry concentrate. This carried me thru the

day until supper. Unfortunately, I ate a convention meal for supper. This

included fried chicken strips, hot biscuits, english peas, and a bit of

honey. After a meal like this, I decide what supplements to use. Usually

amino acids and borage oil or salmon oil.

One problem with conventional food is, the only times I have felt slightly

bad in over 3 years is after a meal of conventional food. Possibly I have

some unidentified problem. Still, this is telling me to continue to be a

non-conventional eater.

I seldom follow the same supplement program for more than a week. Usually

on Sunday night I decide what the week shall be. I sort our and

pre-package various supplements, minerals, and herbs.

I don't claim that my method is best. It is the only way I can cope with

the many supplements and confusion that exists.

So far it has worked very well.

Gradually, I have eliminated so many foods that there are not many

left. Usually once or twice per week I buy whatever produce looks the best.

When one keeps a bag of high quality trailmix handy all day, other food

becomes unnecessary, or certainly less important.

I still think that the trailmix I make is the best food on the face of the

earth.

---Hello Wayne

Whats your recipe for trail mix .I could do

with something to nibble that is healthy as I work

with food all day. I'm a vegetarian but try to keep

the fat and protein up but the refined carbs down but

this severely limits choices so any new variations are

welcome.

Thanks

Chris

If you are a vegetarian, I strongly recommend sub-lingual

vitamin B-12. Most of B-12 is destroyed in the gut, so sub-lingual

is a much more efficient way to take it.

Coconut milk is good for both protein & good fats. Mae Ploy

is my favorite brand. Just be sure to get some with a high fat

content & not the lowfat variety. I drink half of a 19 ounce can a

day.

I get my protein and fats from nuts, fried tofu which is really good, temph

and garden burgers and the like. I use soy margarine which really did help

my cholesterol. olive oil and chocolate now and then. Miso is also a good

source but I buy miso and tofu from and oriental market where they have it

fresh. I have been a vegetarian for around 20 years. Donna
