Hello Veronica

I have heard that tea tree oil to kill the virus and

lavendar/chammomile mix to sooth the rash is quite

helpful. Some echinacea and vitamin C would also help

the immune system to fight off the virus.

Best wishes Chris

YES.. I did have the Shingles just a few months ago, ( Not very pretty).. what I

did was used " bentonite white clay " ... here's what I did.. I prepared a thick

wool cloth to cover the troubled area then applied on the cloth a mixture of

clay with water ( mud thickness) at night before going to bed which covered all

the troubled area ( 10 hrs).. and Bingo in less than 2 weeks ALL was healed with

NO sign of any scaring and I had NO PAIN whatsoever,.. apply longer if needed,

just make sure that the application remains humid, my Dr. was flabergasted by

the results he..he.. he said.. CLAY??

Dear Group here is a brief description of shingles.

***************************

Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that

causes chickenpox. After an attack of chickenpox, the virus lies

dormant in the nerve tissue. As we get older, it is possible for the

virus to reappear in the form of shingles. Shingles is estimated to

affect 2 in every 10 persons in their lifetime. This year, more than

500,000 people will develop shingles.******************************

my comments now.....

Since it is a virus and is originally sited in nerve tissue, I think

the treatment should be to stop the virus.

There is not many treatments for viruses and one would have to act as

as antivirus or somehow be able to somehow disable the replication

process.

I think that vitamin C would be one of the best to use. It has been

shown effective in killing the polio virus, the flu viruses, etc.

Vitamin C is antiviral, antibacterial, and non toxic too.

I would take it internally in large quanties and I probably would

apply a paste of c and water and maybe a few other things but mainly

C to the skin where any symtoms occur.

If taken in large quantities, I feel that vitamin C would probably do

the job.

I believe that 1 gram or more of C per hour and increase it to bowel

tolerance would clear it up.

There are some links on our group web site that are on vitamn C, you

could learn more there.

regards,

Frank

I have used BHT (butylated hydroxy toluene) a food

preservative for treatment of Herpes breakouts. Herpes is a virus

which lies dormant in nerve tissue, so BHT may be useful for shingles

as well.

Hi! My sympathies to your friend, and yes, I hear it's just awful.

Acyclovir is most commonly prescribed, and it is also available

intravenously (probably for dealing with the worst of it). Your friend

should look to see if immuno-suppression is a factor, or whether health

is being stressed by some other infection or complication. Yeah, stress

can be a trigger too. Some people use tranquilizers to help,

temporarily. There's natural (Jin Buhuan is a Chinese patent medicine,

which is really safe) and there's pharmaceuticals too. Acupuncture can

be used to treat the pain. Where the shingles is occurring is

significant, too. Your friend must consult a physician. A friend of

mine had it on his spine, and was warned that if untreated, it could go

to his brain. If it's on the face, concern can be about the eyes.

Gotta get some help, maybe some reassurances too. I have alot of

confidence in , and there's antivirals there too.

Concentrated extracts (stronger) can be fairly effective. I've used

these myself, and have been told about effectiveness with CMV (another

herpes virus) of certain TCM preparations. Low energy laser therapy

might be helpful, too, in reducing pain, sedating viral activity

--physiotherapists sometimes have the equipment. Lots of luck to your

friend!! Steve

Is there any chance that mega-doses of L-Lysine might help here?

Dear John,

When I read your answer to using L-Lysine it rang a bell or struck a

cord, but I can't remeber anything more about it.

Can you tell us more?

Dear Ms.

The type of verus responsible for shingles has been shown by an

experiment to be much reduced by lysine supplements which are thought

to be working by interfering with absorption of arginine amino acid.

You may see a further discussion of this part way through this

article on chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia;

If you no longer have a rash or leisons and you still have pain, then you're

probably in the post herpetic neuralgia stage. This is a nerve pain. I've had

ir for 9 months. Forget about accupunture, Reiki, healing hands and herbal

medicine. I've tried them all.

The only thing that has helped is neurontin. Check with your Dr.

Lysine is commonly used to fight herpes infections. Arginine promotes

herpes infections. I had occasion to use a product called Heart Bar, an

anti-chest-pain sweet bar, containing about 3gms of Arginine per bar.

Shortly after commencing to eat these bars, I experienced my first case of

shingles, mercifully a rather mild case that cleared up quickly. I suspect

that if Arginine initiated the shingles outbreak, Lysine could, very likely,

suppress it.
