Guest guest
Dear Group: Some time ago I joined this group. Due to time constraints, I have been rather inactive, although I do search through the posts from time to time and read what I am able to. This is a great group. I am currently in the process of beginning to write a book length document in regard to a proposed natural therapy for depression. This is admittedly rather unusual material. Underlying this material it is an enormous amount of effort, as well as my personally taking about 75,000 capsules of various amino acids since 1997, and another 30,000 or so capsules of other various supplements. I should perhaps note that when this material is completed, it will be posted on the net and freely available to all. I am not selling anything here, nor do I have any commercial interests whatsoever. I am simply trying to give others that may be depressed information that sure I wish I had thirty years ago. I'd love to get any constructive feedback on what I have written this far. Any comments, either positive or negative, on the material below would be helpful to me. All the very best, Allen Darman Introduction The material that follows concerns a natural therapy for depression, as well as all of the logical and biochemical principles underlying it. This material is written for both laypersons and doctors alike. The author has intentionally tried to state everything in this material in as simple a manner as I possibly can. My goal is for nearly anyone to be able to understand what I am representing here, even if they have not had any formal schooling in medical or biological science. What follows represents an entirely different perspective of depression than that which you, the reader, may have heard about from your doctor. It also represents an entirely different perspective than that which you may have read about in magazines or books, seen on TV, or heard from many other people. It is best to try to forget everything you were ever taught about depression when you read the following material. Why? The answer to this question is fairly simple. From the standpoint of chemistry, the large majority of all cases of biochemical depression involve only three classes of chemical substances; nutrients, allergens, and toxins. All of these cases of depression are best corrected by addressing such body chemistry directly, rather than by using any medication whatsoever. These prior statements probably apply to 85% or more of all persons that suffer from depression. On the other hand, modern pharmaceutical medicine essentially ignores all of the chemistry of nutrients, allergens, and toxins when they are dealing with depression in anyone that is thus afflicted. The pharmaceutical-medical model especially ignores the role of essential nutrients, despite the fact that these chemical substances are both obviously and absolutely crucial to proper brain and body function. In ignoring such obvious and essential chemical issues when dealing with depression, the pharmaceutical-medical model cannot have any real clue as to what depression is chemically all about. The same is true for any person that is involved in pharmaceutical medicine. Any person that believes in such pharmaceutical medicine, whether they are a doctor, a psychiatrist, a medical researcher, or a medical school professor is also clueless when it comes to any valid understanding of the chemistry of depression. Therefore it is best to try to forget everything that you may have learned about depression from your doctor when you read the material that follows. For nearly everything that you may have learned from your doctor or any person involved in the pharmaceutical-medical model about the chemistry of depression is most likely to be incorrect. You may like your doctor or your psychiatrist on a personal level. I certainly do. You may be very grateful to him or her for information or assistance that they may have provided to you. I definitely am. You may also be quite thankful to them for the medication that they have prescribed to you in the past; medication which may have helped to greatly to relieve your symptoms of depression. I am as well; my psychiatrist probably saved my life. However, please be aware that your doctor, despite his or her probably being a good, caring person, is a victim of a flawed pharmaceutical-medical system, just as you are a victim of this system. In essence, your doctor, good person or not, is simply a highly trained and very well paid drug salesman, of which you are his or her paying customer. Unfortunately, your doctor is a person that was educated in a medical school whose curriculum and research is all drug, and never nutrient, oriented. All of this is because of money, many hundreds of billions of dollars of pharmaceutical money. According to the dictates of human nature, it is going to be quite hard for most persons to accept any or all of the many significant truths contained in the material that follows. We humans, once we have heard a certain set of ideas stated over and over again for years from a number of sources, strongly tend to believe these ideas. We incorporate them into our own personal perception of how things are. And once we do this, we find it nearly impossible to let this reality go. We strongly tend to hang on to old ideas for decades, even when new evidence and/or simple logic says that these ideas are wrong. It took decades for the human race to accept that the world was round, and not flat, despite much evidence to the contrary. It is probably going to take a similarly long time for mankind to realize that nutrients and other natural measures are far more powerful and far faster acting corrective chemical therapy than any anti- depressive medication that ever was, or will ever be, in regard to the treatment of depression. The author knows that the material that follows may be some of most accurate thought in existence at the current time on the subject of depression and how to best treat it. However, I am aware that the great majority of persons are not going to be able to accept this material as having any truth or validity whatsoever. It may be decades before many other persons accept much of what I am proposing herein. Despite my being aware of this, I am going to do the best that I can here to tell you, the reader, the truth about depression. The pharmaceutical-medical model and this author do agree on one single issue; that depression has a universal symptom. This symptom is that the brain is functioning below par. After this agreement, we part ways. What is depression? According to this author, depression IS NOT simply a state of brain dysfunction. The author proposes to you, the reader, that depression is primarily a condition of general nutrient and biochemical deficiency in the entire body, of which the brain is only one of a number of organs that are impaired. Depression secondarily involves the possible presence of allergic and toxic substances. The author also proposes to you that directly addressing these nutrient, allergic, and toxic issues is profoundly corrective of depression in the vast majority of persons so afflicted. In addition to the above, the author proposes to you that the brain is NEVER the only organ that is affected when a person is depressed. This is a crucial concept to both the proper understanding and the proper treatment of depression. How did mankind go so wrong in thinking that the brain was the primary, if not often single, organ of involvement in a depressed state? One reason mankind assumes that the brain is the only organ of involvement in depression is that the pharmaceutical-medical model has repetitively told us this. We assume that the many billions of dollars spent in research by all of these very intelligent people must mean that they know what they are talking about. I would like to caution the reader here. All of this money, all of these people, and all of the research being done are directed at depression ONLY from the standpoint of treating it with medication, and just medication. In other words, the pharmaceutical-medical model " has blinders on " . It is essentially not looking at any issue involved in depression outside of the use of antidepressive medication. It is doing this due to its own fiscal self-interest, a fiscal self-interest that involves rather staggering amounts of money. To perpetuate the flow of money towards it, the pharmaceutical- medical model must summarily ignore any and all essential nutrient chemistry in the body when they are dealing with depression. Nutrient chemistry cannot make the pharmaceutical-medical model any money. Nutrient chemistry is unpatentable, readily available, and rather inexpensive. Therefore the pharmaceutical-medical model must ignore all such nutrient chemistry, despite the fact such nutrient chemistry is absolutely critical to both neurotransmitter levels and brain performance. This is especially true of amino acids, of which most neurotransmitters are primarily made. The pharmaceutical- medical model must especially ignore amino acid nutrients, as these can so readily change the levels of their associated neurotransmitters within a matter of hours when they are used properly. A second reason that persons assume that the brain is the only organ of involvement in depression is that anti-depressive medications target and treat only faulty neurotransmitter levels, a fact that infers only brain involvement. This, and the fact that such medications often bring substantial relief to persons from depression, serves to solidly perpetuate mankind's general misunderstanding that the brain is the primary organ involved in depression, if not the only organ. Yes, it is true that artificially increasing the amount of neurotransmitters such as serotonin or dopamine available in the brain with medications such as SSRI's and other antidepressants often does bring substantial relief to a person that suffers from depression. However, doing such does not chemically correct even a small portion of what depression is truly all about. Taking an antidepressive medication simply provides a relief from depressive symptoms, a relief that is commonly known as " masking " (of symptoms). It is similar to taking a painkiller for pain, the pain is still there, but you don't feel it. When taking an antidepressant medication for depression, the depression (which is primarily a state of general biochemical deficiency) is still there, but you can no longer perceive it. A third reason that persons assume that the brain is the only organ of involvement in depression is that human beings can only perceive in themselves the sub par performance of a single organ – the brain. We are conscious of brain performance. We know when our brain is not working quite right. However, we are not conscious of other organs in our body, unless physical pain is involved. We have no way of telling, and can not sense in ourselves, sub par performance of key organs and glands such as the pancreas, the liver, the thyroid gland, our adrenal glands, etc. for the most part, despite the fact that all of these organs and glands effect brain performance. These facts have also helped to perpetuate the erroneous conclusion that when we are depressed, it is generally only our brain that is involved. Despite the fact that the pharmaceutical-medical model has developed a number of antidepressive medications that are often effective in treating the symptoms of depression, the pharmaceutical-medical model does not have a clue as to how to best chemically correct depression in any person that suffers from such. The faulty chemistry underlying a state of depression primarily involves a general lack of essential nutrients. The pharmaceutical-medical model does not know how to correct the chemical status of a general lack of essential nutrients, nor do they want to find out. The pharmaceutical-medical model also does not want you, the reader, to find this out as well. Why not? Because the pharmaceutical-medical model is making hundreds of billions of dollars masking the symptoms of nutrient deficiency with various antidepressant medications. In addition, the pharmaceutical-medical model has the power and the prestige to continue to make these obscene amounts of money, even if they do not recognize or address any of the essential nutrient chemistry involved in depression at all. Why should they change? Both human beings and institutions only change when they are motivated to do so. What motivation does the pharmaceutical-medical model or any of the people involved in it have to change in regard to their current treatment of depression? The answer of course, is none. No antidepressant medication actually increases the level of any neurotransmitter whatsoever. These medications only artificially increase the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Only nutrients can actually change neurotransmitter levels. They can do this quite readily within a matter of hours. All neurotransmitters are made out of essential nutrient substances, substances with names such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. A lack of any single one of these essential nutrients can, and invariably does, cause a lack of whatever neurotransmitter this nutrient is involved with making. This is especially true of amino acids. Amino acids are nutrient substances that most neurotransmitters are primarily made of. Conversely, increasing one's overall nutrient status increases one's overall neurotransmitter status. These are all very basic and irrefutable biological and scientific facts. Yet, the pharmaceutical-medical model always ignores these facts whenever they attempt to change neurotransmitter status in a person that is depressed. According to the pharmaceutical-medical model, the use of medication is the single and proper chemical manner in which to change neurotransmitter status to alleviate a state of depression. Such a position is absolutely ludicrous, but due to the lack of knowledge of the general public, the pharmaceutical-medical model continues to get away with telling us this. The current pharmaceutical-medical model has a very erroneous conceptual understanding of depression. The pharmaceutical-medical model does not have a clue as to what the most common causes of depression are, causes which may apply to well over 90% of us. They also do not know how to correct for these common causes when they do occur in a person. Nor does the pharmaceutical-medical model want to find either the common causes of depression or their corrections. In addition, they do not want you, the reader, to find out as well. Why not? Because the pharmaceutical-medical model is making hundreds of billions of dollars ignoring all of the most common causes of depression, especially that of hidden food allergy, candida, and other various GI tract malabsorptive problems. The pharmaceutical-medical model has the power and the prestige to continue to make these obscene amounts of money, even if they do not recognize or address even any of the extremely common causes of depression at all. Why should they change? What motivation do they have to change? None, of course. Due to the facts that many people have died, and are continuing to die, of suicide as a result of severe depression, and that the pharmaceutical-medical model is perhaps intentionally ignoring any and all rather biologically obvious nutrient and malabsorptive issues when dealing with depression, this model may be quite literally getting away with manslaughter on a grand scale. And it is getting paid hundreds of billions of dollars to do so. In addition, with their great fiscal wealth the pharmaceutical-medical model controls the media, they control general public opinion, and they control governmental legislation. Why should they change? Not only does the pharmaceutical-medical model have no reason whatsoever to change in regard to their current treatment of depression, and they have hundreds of billion$ of reasons not to, the truth is that they cannot change. It is nearly impossible. One reason that it is nearly impossible for the pharmaceutical- medical model to change is how could they say to the thousands of persons that just spent a quarter of a million dollars going to medical school in order to become psychiatrists that " I am sorry, but the education that you received is already obsolete? " How could they tell these newly educated psychiatrists that medication is not the best chemical answer to depression, the therapeutic use of nutrients is? And how could they tell all of the psychiatrists that graduated medical school quite some time ago the same thing? Are these psychiatrists all going to go back to school to learn how to use nutrients instead of drugs? Not likely. How could the pharmaceutical-medical model ever tell its doctors things like " We have just learned that the therapeutic use of nutrients can correct depression far better than antidepressive medications do " , or " We were wrong to not address nutrient malabsorptive issues when dealing with depression " , or " It is likely that if you ignore essential nutrient levels in a depressed person and dispense only medication in which to treat this condition, you are likely to become part of a class action lawsuit against you at some point in the future " ? The pharmaceutical- medical model cannot say these things. The pharmaceutical-medical model cannot change. They cannot recognize nutrient issues in dealing with depression. This is especially true because if they are applied in any manner that makes any logical sense whatsoever (as this document proposes) they often work profoundly well in an amazingly short period of time. The pharmaceutical-medical model will never understand depression or treat depression properly, unless they are someday forced to by public outcry that generates substantial legal and political action on this matter. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to happen. It is probably going to take quite some time. This author does not agree with the pharmaceutical-medical model at all. I know far too much to do so. I know that depression is a " whole body " condition, affecting every organ and cell in it. I know that, far more other than not, depression is primarily a general state of nutrient and biochemical deficiency in the body, and secondarily it involves a probable exposure to allergic and toxic substances. The end result of these factors is a situation in which brain function is impaired. And when brain function is impaired due to a lack of essential nutrients, an exposure to allergic or toxic substances, or both, all of other organs and glands in the body are likely to be impaired as well. I welcome you to an open-minded journey into how the human body actually works from a chemical standpoint. I would also like to welcome you to an explanation of how to fix the chemical machine that our body represents when it this chemical machine is broken, such that we may feel depressed. In the material that follows is a step by step explanation of a natural antidepressive therapy that can substantially increase nearly every chemical substance in the body, to include increasing the levels of all brain neurotransmitters, for all ostensible purposes. This natural therapy can do so within a matter of single day. It does so by the use of nutrients and other natural measures, and without the use of any medication whatsoever. The following material also provides many rather easily understood explanations of many obvious biological and chemical reasons that a person whom is depressed should perhaps consider using such a natural therapy. It may be worthy to note here that neurotransmitters are only one class of the chemical substances in the body that are being broadly and substantially increased by the use of the natural therapy that is proposed herein. Hormones and enzymes are two of the other classes of biochemical substances that are being broadly and substantially increased as well. Neurotransmitters, hormones, and enzymes are all invariably low in a person that is depressed. Increasing the levels of these three classes of chemical substances in the body can, and very often does, have a profoundly positive effect on a state of depression. For those times when broadly increasing the levels of neurotransmitters, hormones, and enzymes does not result in the complete resolution of depression within a single day, various allergic or toxic issues may be involved. Most common allergic and toxic issues can be resolved fairly quickly as well, especially in regard to their current impact on a state of depression. These common allergic and toxic issues, and their suggested corrections, will be discussed later in this document as well. For this author, it is apparent that doing the above is often completely corrective of a state of depression. It is even often completely corrective of a state of very severe depression with suicidal ideation attached. Amazingly, it is often corrective of either depression or severe depression within a period of time of less than a single day. The antidepressive therapy being proposed here is based on fairly simple and rather irrefutable logic. In essence, this therapy represents a logical coupling of a number of basic biochemical and biological concepts together. The anti depressive therapy that is being proposed here is also based on experience. The author immediately knew the great significance of what first happened to him in August of 1999. At this point, partly as the result of an " accidental discovery " , I was able to profoundly and completely resolve a longstanding state of severe biochemical depression within a single day. This is an event that modern medicine considers quite impossible. It is also an event that I have intentionally repeated many dozens of times since. I did this to either validate what I had already learned, or to refine the concepts and methods that I was using such that I could better advise other persons. It is this author's belief that the material that follows may represent a very important breakthrough in the both the conceptual understanding and the treatment of depression for all mankind. This material may not be " the final answer to depression " , but it certainly advances it's understanding far more ahead of where it is today. However, it may be quite some time before the significance of what is being represented herein is realized. I say this despite that fact that what I am proposing here is based on a great deal of rather basic and irrefutable biology and science, as well as it is based on much simple and rather irrefutable logic. The natural antidepressive therapy that is proposed here has four simple stages, each of which is critical to its success. The first stage involves a general cleansing of the intestines with a " gooey sticky plug " that, as it moves down the intestinal tract, removes a number of common problems that can greatly impair the absorption of essential nutrients into the body. This " gooey sticky plug " appears to fix every major problem in the GI tract that is commonly present in a person that is depressed. It removes problematic allergic food residue. It removes problematic " bad bacteria " . It removes a problematic yeast condition known as candida. It removes excess mucous from the walls of the intestines. It removes many problematic toxins. It removes undigested food, which cannot be absorbed into the body. This " gooey sticky plug " is rather amazing it its ability to broadly correct all common problems in the GI tract for most persons. This " gooey sticky plug " is also incredibly useful to the quick correction of a state of minimal nutrient absorption in a person in a person that suffers from such. Minimal nutrient absorption (also known as malabsorption) is a situation that is extremely common in a person that is depressed. A state of severe depression and a state of poor absorption of nutrients into the body are nearly synonymous. The second stage involves " seeding " the small intestines with a key amino acid nutrient. This special nutrient can substantially increase the ability of the intestines to absorb any and all other nutrients that are ingested later, a fact that is scientifically proven. The result of the application of the above two states of the therapy being proposed herein is a very substantial change in nutrient absorptive ability in the intestines within a matter of hours. Few persons realize that the absorptive ability of the intestines can, and often does, vary substantially from day to day, despite a person not being aware of this at all. Even fewer persons realize that the absorptive ability of the intestines is so readily changeable for the better. The author is one of these persons. I have greatly changed the absorptive ability of my intestines within a matter of hours as many as a hundred times since 1999. It appears to me that doing so is invariably crucial to the effective treatment of depression. The third stage involves taking a single substantial dose of every single nutrient known to man, or taking a few divided doses in which to achieve the same effect. Many of these nutrients are taken in a form that does not require the normal digestive process to work in order for them to be well absorbed into the body. The reason that these nutrients are taken in a form that bypasses the digestive process is that, not only absorption, but digestion as well is often quite impaired in a person that is depressed. A state of severe depression and a state of poor digestion are nearly synonymous. The fourth stage involves replacement of a variety of " good bacteria " in the GI tract. Many of these " good bacteria " were removed by the cleansing action in stage one of the therapy being proposed here, along with much else that was a potential problem and therefore had to be removed. An adequate amount of " good bacteria " in the GI tract is important to good digestive health. And good digestive health is critical to overall nutrient status in the body. After you have performed all of the above four stages of the therapy outlined above, all you have to do is simply wait. Nature does the rest. A large dose of the entire range of essential nutrients is absorbed into the body. These nutrients are then carried by the bloodstream to where they are needed. Sluggish cells and organs throughout the body, all of which lacked adequate nutrients, are sparked back to life. They begin to do what they would have done all along if they had been fed properly. In addition to this, problematic and common allergens and toxins and allergens are being removed. The result of all of this is that you will feel amazingly better within a matter of a single day. And you will NOT feel depressed. This four stage natural antidepressive therapy often effectively addresses all three chemical issues that are common to 85% or more of all cases of depression. It substantially corrects the problematic issues of a lack of nutrients, a presence of allergens, and a presence of toxins in anyone. And it often corrects for these issues within a single day, such that a depressive state that is even quite severe is often fully resolved. This four stage natural antidepressive therapy is a solution that is elegantly simple. And it is a solution that is rather obvious, once depression is understood for what it truly is. What is most important to you, the reader, is that it is a solution that often works! I hereby welcome you, the reader, to a whole new world of molecular medicine. This is a medicine that both recognizes and addresses the enormous corrective power of nutrients. It is also a medicine that recognizes and deals with all of the possible underlying causative factors in various health conditions as well, especially those involved with causing nutrient deficiency in the body. I will do my best in the material that follows to explain to you the simple logic and many powerful truths of this new medicine as it relates to depression. I will do so using words and concepts that nearly anyone can understand, doctor or not. And I will do my best to relate how I put a number of this new medicine's concepts together to achieve the greatest impact on a state of even severe depression in a remarkably short period of time. Guest guest
Dear Alan A very interesting piece of writing and when it is finished it will be very useful for people suffering depression but want to kick the prozac. Keep going and finish it. It is only from personal accounts like yours that people gain the courage to question the medical profession and take responsibility for their health themselves. Great stuff Chris Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.
