Guest guest
Anybody have any good suggestions on how to handle heart palpitations and racing heart? I have done a fair amount of research but would appreciate some input. Ken
Guest guest
A calcium, magnesium and hawthorn supplement daily will help stop them. You must continue for a little while for the effects to be felt. If you can get the hawthorn in the phytosome form it is far more absorbable (100 mg dose of hawthorn phytosome (standardised) is probably the highest dose available. Guest guest
Lay off caffeine, get enough sleep, stay away from decongestants and definitely stay away from over-the-counter diet aids that are " thermalgenics " or have ma-huang or ephedrine in them. When you are getting palpitations, try drinking 2-3 cups of water just in case your system is not hydrated enough, that helps sometimes. If your palpitations are frequent and not related to any outside stimulus that you can think of, I'd suggest making an appointment with an electrophysiologist for a cardiac workup. An electrophysiologist is a specialist in cardiac electric impulses, arrythmias, palps. You can also try some valsalva maneuvers (look them up online) to help stop an arrythmia...HTH Marissa Gettingwell, " Ken Woody " <kenwoody@a...> wrote: > Anybody have any good suggestions on how to handle heart palpitations and > racing heart? Guest guest
---Ken, One way to handle heart palpitations is to take 400 mgs of magnesium oxide whenever the racing starts. I take it up to three times daily when under a lot of stress with or without vitamin C, depending on the severity of palpitations. A lack of magnesium has been implicated in many cases of arrythmias. An abundance of calcium without the accompanying amounts of magnesium is suspect. Magnesium dilates the blood vessels allowing more oxygen to pass through to the heart. Over the long term, avoiding hydrogenated fats and oils are important. I have found that substituting refined oils (such as canola, etc) with expeller-pressed E.V. Olive oil provides more of the healthy fats required to elevate our Good cholesterol, and in this way helping to eliminate the bad fats or cholesterol also. I found I had heart palpitations and arrythmias with even moderate ingestion of hydrogenated fats, however upon eliminating them entirely from my diet, I discovered I no longer have any problems Be advised that those advertised " so-called " healthy margarines also have hydrogenated fats included. among these are the much-advertised *Benecol* and *Take Control* which are recommended by the ADA & Regis! Vitamin E and selenium are also beneficial as is a good quality CoQ10 supplement from a health food store! Hawthorne Berry and gingko have helped me tremendously, but these are herbs that help these problems over the long term, and are not for short term emergencies. magnesium is much more beneficial for those sudden spurts of arrythmias. I would not be without it! I'm not talking about the types of magnesium that have a laxative effect however. Good Luck!!
