Dear Oregon News Update Subscribers,

Thank you for signing up to receive e-mails from Oregon Concerned

Citizens for Safe Foods. This is the first e-mail that is being send

out

to list rs.

First, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Craig Winters

and

I am the Executive Director of The Campaign to Label Genetically

Engineered Foods. I have been working with Donna Harris and the other

folks at Oregon Concerned Citizens for Safe Foods over the past

year.

We

designed their web site and provide updates and maintenance on the

site.

While The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods has been

primarily focused on the passing nation legislation to label

genetically

engineered foods, we actively support all state efforts to pass

labeling

legislation. We are very excited about Oregon having Measure 27 on

the

November 5th ballot.

Others involved on the management team of Oregon Concerned Citizens

for

Safe Foods may also post to this list. We do not expect to post to

this

list more than once or twice a week. As you may be aware, we have

also

set up a Discussion bulletin board where you can post your own ideas

and

thoughts about the effort to pass Measure 27. That can be found at:

http://www.labelgefoods.com/discuss.html

The primary purpose of this e-mail is to let you know about a special

event that will be held in Portland on Saturday, September 7th. The

title of the event is " Genetically Engineered Food Educational Forum,

Workshop and Dinner. "

You can read about the September 7th event by going to the Events web

page at:

http://www.labelgefoods.com/events.html

Admission to the Educational Forum and Workshop is as low as $5.

However, if you can afford to pay more, we have set up a sliding

scale

admission of $5 to $20. We have some great speakers already confirmed

for the forum and workshop and other speakers will be announced in

the

coming days.

The dinner is a fundraiser and will feature a vegetarian cuisine.

Popular

author John Robbins will be the guest speaker before dinner from

5:00 to 6:00 PM. There will be a wide variety of delicious vegetarian

food. Admission for the talk by John Robbins and dinner is a low as

$25.

However, if you can afford to pay more, we have set up a sliding

scale

for dinner of $25 to $100. There is a maximum capacity of 150 for

dinner

so there is a good possibility the dinner may sell out. We suggest

you

purchase dinner online in advance at the Events page to assure your

place.

We would like to have as many people as possible attend the

Genetically

Engineered Food Educational Forum, Workshop and Dinner on September

7th.

In additional to attending yourself, it would be great if you can

help

promote this event.

Please tell your friends! You can print out a flyer to hand out to

others from a link on the Events web page. You can also find it on

the

Literature web page at:

http://www.labelgefoods.com/literature.html

I hope to see you on September 7th!

Craig Winters
