Via the Internet I know a woman that trains Service Dogs for persons

with disabilities. I have taken the liberty of snipping part of a

post from her SD (service dog) group list today. I have no idea how

open she is to holistic avenues, though I would love to be able

present her with factual information concerning alternative methods

of dealing with glaucoma. I doubt that she is very flush with monies

so when suggesting things can you please also give links as to the

best sources for the suppliments/treatments/herbs/whatever.

This woman makes a TREMENDOUS difference in the lives of many

disabled persons by training dogs that give them a new lease on life

by having a working partner to help them function with & around their

personal disabilities. Please, lets us as a group here try & do

something for her, so she can continue with her work of helping

others!

<<Anyway, I just went through eye surgery on my left eye and the next

will be done Aug. 7th.... Glaucoma, I'm allergic to all the drops and

have now lost half of my vision in my left eye. The right one is

starting to go now. The surgery only lasts for 2-3 years and they can

only perform the surgery for up to 3 times. So, in about 6-10 years

I'll totally blind.>>

Thanks In Advance!

Vache & SD Boo-Boo dog

(Bet ya'll did not know that I am paired with a working Service Dog

partner myself!)

---Vache,

Right off-hand I would recommend gingko and bilberry in

combination with supplementation of all the various beta-carotenes.

She should start juicing carrot, beet and celery juice for starters

I would think. Carrot juice works wonders for the eyes.

As for herbs I would have to look it up for her. Ok...since age-

related eye problems are sometimes just basically circulation

problems in disguise, fresh ginger root might be beneficial. It has

improved my vision quite a bit in the last several years. This can

be incorporated in smoothies or stirfries.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help right at the moment. :-)

Thanks so much for the reply. You have certainly helped to expand

upon the mere basics that I was to suggest to her of: Udo's Choice

EFA oil (along with cottage cheese), a good daily vitamin, some

spirulina, & as much extra vitamin C as she could tolerate.

What about suggesting she suppliment with luetin?

Anyone else? Suggestions please? This woman gives a lot to many in

society & it would be a real shame for her to lose her eye sight!

TIA,

Vache

---Vache,

You have some excellent choices there. You mention lutein. There

is a supplement made by NOW foods that goes by the name of Veggie

Carotenoids with various forms of Beta-carotene included that might

be beneficial for her condition.

NOW is available at most hfs, however here is their website also:

http://www.NOWfoods.com

That extra vitamin C would do her a world of good also. There is a

little packet (available at most HFSs) which goes by the name of

Emergen-C. I'm thinking it would be great for her, if she doesn't

like to supplement. She would like it, it's a fizzy drink that

energizes for hours on end!

OMG, don't recall the name of the website right now. Perhaps it'll

come back to me later. I'll try and get back with you on that one.

OK, so I can at last help with something from the US. I purchased 3 boxes x

36 of these in the Raspberry flavor - delicious and I have one every morning

to take my other supplements with.

The url is www.alacercorp.com

Thanks for your support. It would really be a shame for society at

large to lose this woman as a Service Dog trainer due to her glaucoma

issues.

---Vache,

Heres something else I found this afternoon on glaucoma. Thought

you might be interested.

..

" Lactose, a milk sugar, is made up of two other sugars,

glucose and galactose.

Galactose has been identified

as a causative factor in heart disease, *cataracts*, and

*glaucoma*.

Most adults " lack " the enzyme, lactase, to

break down lactose. Instead, lactose is broken down

by bacteria in the lower intestines.

Their own body

wastes combine with those sugars to ferment into

toxins causing bloating and cramps. "

Thank EVERYONE for your replies on & off-line. Hopefully this

woman's inner health may improve over time if she follows any of our

suggestions for good basic health.

Cheers,

Vache
