Guest guest
>> I supect I just do not like salmon. ------------Quite possible. >> I bought it at Wholefoods which does not stock any farm-raised almon. -----------Is that a healthfood store? Fresh wild Salmon is seldom available and may be very low priced if of really poor quality and very high priced if only of fair to good quality. Probably all high quality fresh Salmon is sold by special contract at very high prices and never gets to any USA supermarket! >> Are any other fish as good for one as salmon? Normally I eat tuna (raw), swordfish (grilled) and shrimp (boiled). ------------------ The fish low on the food chain are lowest in pollutants; if from less pollouted waters. Alaska fish are among the least contaminated. Salmon is low as when young it feeds on plankton, later it eats small fish that eat plankton and Salmon only live two to four years for the smaller varieties. Salmon must be cooked in a manner that prevents it from drying out! Example; If I am frying a one inch thick steak or filet, I break into it with a fork and check the center of the steak. When there is still one quarter inch raw in the center I take it off the stove and put it on a cool plate and serve it. It will continue cooking and the center will get done. But if you try to cook it all the way through it will dry out and lose the good flavor. Some fine Restuarants " poach " Salmon. Good Luck Lorenzo --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
