Guest guest
Hi...I just joined your group this morning and I can't wait to read thru the archives and learn some stuff! But I have a question and hoping someone will take pity on this newbie and be able to help. My Dad just stopped taking one of the statin drugs for his high cholesterol because it was causing him problems...and he is considering taking octacosanol/policosanol. Does anyone know about this? Any side effects? I searched last night online but found nothing other than info from those selling the product, so it wasn't what I needed to know. Thanks for your help! shorty
Guest guest
I looked it up for you and cannot understand why anyone would take it for lowering cholesterol when it is recommeded for increasing energy for physical exercise. As in this site http://www.gnc.com/health_notes/Supp/Octacosanol.htm Please tell him to try and reduce any statins drastically because they are not good for him. If he goes into a very good hfs and asks for supplements to lower his cholesterol he will find loads to help him naturally. Guest guest
Hi Marianne, Thanks for your reply. Dad stopped the statins when he realized they were making him feel ill, and I am glad he stopped. A friend has been taking the octacosanol and recommended it to Dad. I don't really see anything that lists side effects. I also like you see most info on it stating it's for energy boosting...maybe I need it more than my dad does these days...hahaha. Thanks for the help.
