Guest guest
The blueberry harvest is in full swing. I have been calling all my friends and telling them to come get free blueberries. Many are too busy and /or too lazy to come and pick them I thought some of you might be interested in a few pictures. The weather has been excellent. At first I thought they were hurting for water, then we had a few small rains. Somehow, the result is the best harvest with larger and sweeter berries. Many of the berries are one half inch and some are over 5/8 inch in diameter. http://www.fugitt.com/bb_0610/ Six pictures under 100 K. To give you some idea of the plot size, there are 13 rows that originally contained 450 plants. These plant were planted in 1980. About every two to three years they are pruned heavily to make them more manageable. Wayne

I had not realized blueberry harvest was soon early in the season. I am used to black raspberries in NY state being yummy in August. I was looking thru your site & see that you are publicizing some of the AIDS conspiracy material. Good work. I have been recommending Peter Deusberg's site for years. Guest guest
Evening Alobar, Nice pics of blueberries. Since moving South I have been a city >boy. I had not realized blueberry harvest was soon early in the season. >I am used to black raspberries in NY state being yummy in August. As with most plants, there are early, mid season, and late varieties. When I made this planting, I studied the varieties and planted some of all three. This gives me almost 60 days of blueberry harvest from early June until the last of July. Typically June is the blackberry month in this area. Our wild blackberries are doing fine now. Picking is slow. I was averaging about one quart per 30 minutes last week. For some reason, I enjoy picking the wild berries more than the ones that are easy to find and pick like my blueberries. The real question is.... just how many to eat in a day. > I was looking thru your site & see that you are publicizing some of >the AIDS conspiracy material. Good work. I don't spend as much time working on the web pages as I once did. Wayne

Ok.... Sounds good. You could get 100 gal or more easily. I estimate total production at 500 to 800 gallons. Normally blueberries are measured in pints because that is how they are sold. One year the yield was 8000 pints. Most people only pick 3 to 10 gallons. This am one neighbor picked 7 gallons in about 2 hours. Guest guest
Wayne You have to change your friends. I was taught at a very young age that one is judged by the friends one keeps. What a pity that I live so far away from those beautiful, fat, juicy, probably tasty, nutritious berries., and your offer to pick them AT NO CHARGE! My jaw is still on my lap. No, it doesn't hurt, but the envy sure is embarrassing. Guest guest
Wayne If your lazy friends aren't going to take you up on your offer to pick those jewels, I hope that you are into making preserves. Though somehow I don't think that they will, I hate to think that they will go to waste. Guest guest
Morning Morton, >> If your lazy friends aren't going to take you up on your offer to pick >those jewels, I hope that you are into making preserves. Though somehow I >don't think that they will, I hate to think that they will go to waste. A few do, and a few don't. Of course some of the people are not close friends but instead they are customers from my Alarm Business. I have thought about doing a huge planting and when I run into a highly competitive situation on the larger jobs, offer a certificate for free vegetables and produce. I bet that would cause my competition to loose some sleep. Some to go to waste for sure. That is what was about to happen a few years back when I gave the county penal farm 650 gallons. Many people think they are too busy to take 2 hours off and drive 15 miles, and sweat a bit, and run the possibility of getting a tick on their body. Of course these same people are too busy to study nutrition and go to some trouble to eat the proper food. Somehow..... they are never too busy to take off three hours to go to the doctor. But.... that is the logic of the masses. I did take an hour off and go to the blood lab yesterday. The head technician still does not want to do the mycoplasma test. It must be a pain. She says there is no need to do it, everyone has mycoplasma. So, based on previous experience, the truth must be that 100% of the population does in fact have mycoplasma. The only thing we can do, I suppose, is to keep the immune system running 110%, 24 hours per day. I have to study mycoplasma a bit more.
