Ok, new and learning...The reason I joined this group was because my husband

and I had some blood test done..Both our Cholesterol were 181 me, 215 him.

My LDH 107, his 140. HDL mine 42, his 57. With this I thought we needed to

make adjustments.

What I find amazing is I don't eat alot of animal fats...I do like

margerine..but even on my rice, I like soy sauce better, I do not drink alot

of milk and cheese I eat on pizza. So, I am at a loss why it was so high

and low/ I however do not get alot of fiber or protein...I was beat as a

child to eat my veggies and now I just HATE them. I am 42 and figure trying

to curb this now better then later would be wise.

I started to eat oatmeal and have picked up omega three pills.

OOOOO and I am workin on the fiber...looking at oatbran pills and taking an

herb lax daily.

Words or wisdom requested.

Morning Joann,

I have been half-savvy on these fats for years. I am writing a short

article for a local publication which I

titled, " Fats, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly " .

Of course I attacked the ugly first, which is the hydrogenated

fats. All I am doing is putting together bits and piece of information I

have known for years, with a few new facts I have found.

When it is finished, I will make a web page and post a link. Likely

most of you will learn very little except maybe a bit of history relative

to the oil industry.

Soon I will get another blood analysis to see if the flax oil, coconut

oil, borage oil, salmon oil and ground flax seed has done any good. I

hope my total cholesterol is up 20 points and the HDL has changed a

bit. Of course I am more concerned with homocysteine and C-Reactive

protein. My blood insulin was ok last time with a reading of 5.

I decided that my total number of 166 was a bit low. When I was in my

30's the reading was 180 to 212. I think these

higher numbers are just right. Dr. Mercola was trying to do the same thing.

That was carefully and strategically planned, don't you think?
