A few points.

I joined a chat-list created by the Quackbusters, and because I questioned

Barrett's assertions, was, summarily (no warning, no second chance) thrown

off the list by Barrett himself. I invite anyone to examine my posts to

Barrett's website (assuming he hasn't destroyed them), and to make their own

judgment, concerning whether I deserved to be denied access to chat. Other

listers on the Quack site, actually sent posts to me, privately, expressing

sympathy with my views, and, in one instance, told me to be very careful

about what I posted, so as to avoid dismissal.

The more carefully you read his notions, the more exaggerated and unbalanced

they seem. He's a clever propagandist, selling half truths to the very

people he claims are gullible victims of alternative medicine.

Most telling of all, are the choices of " jeers " (negative posts to the

Quackwatcher site) Barrett selects, while, taking credit for, and pretending

that he's providing, more opposition letters than letters praising his

views, in an effort to convince his readers of his impartiality. But even a

cursory examination of the choice of " jeer " posts, reveal that Barrett has

carefully and systematically selected posts against him, that are badly

written, and are full of excessive emotion, and offensive language.

It's regrettable that there aren't more alt-med professionals willing to

communicate and defend their healing methods, and their views about the

Quackbusters. There is as much quackery, treachery, deceit and greed in

alternative medicine as their is in conventional medicine; which is what

makes Barrett's pitch so seductive, while at the same moment, so

hypocritical and unbalanced, so slavish to his pet medical orthodoxies.

I have read parts of that site in the past. It is a pretty volatile site.
