Chinese dust storm could reach US

A dust storm in China could cross the Pacific and become visible in the US.

Dan Jaffe of the University of Washington-Bothell says the dust will reach

US shores in one to two weeks.

The university has a monitoring station on the Olympic Peninsula and will

take samples using small aeroplanes.

Prof Jaffe says the dust is unlikely create an air quality problem in itself

but will add to existing pollution.

By the time it reaches the US, the dust may make skies look washed out or

milky, Prof Jaffe says.
