Guest guest
We have all heard about the drug company kick-backs, it is great to see a major network finally exposing this practice. This segment is called " Influencing Doctors " , How Pharmaceutical Companies use enticement to " Educate " Physicians. By Brian Ross and David W. Scott. Primetime goes undercover to Lavish Parties given for doctors by pharmaceutical companies. They expose " perks " such as cruises, all expense paid vacations, professional sports game tickets, ski trips, and monies upward to $10,000.00 per year, all given by drug companies to doctors who promote and use their products. 6 billion dollars is spent annually for what the drug companies call " educating doctors " , driving up the cost of prescription drugs and corrupting the practice of medicine. >>
Guest guest
Very interesting that they are doing a show on this. We've known about it for a long time. My dad often said drugs would be much cheaper for the public if they'd stop those practices. He had several drug companies offer to give him $100 for a 10 minute survey on the phone! I never remember him accepting anything large from a drug company, all he ever had were the pens He definitely didn't go on any cruises etc from a drug company. But I guess a small town dr doesn't get many of the larger offers from the drug companies. -- Momma Pajama <larrae Wed, 27 Feb 2002 17:50:55 -0800 Watch ABC's Primetime this Thursday night, 2/28 We have all heard about the drug company kick-backs, it is great to see a major network finally exposing this practice.
