Since many times ADHD is a form of stress for children, I think that should be eliminated in a way other than drugs. This isn't always the case, but...... And while I agree that learning is SO important, I really don't think it's the worth putting kids of medicines that will ruin their life later or through ill effects, if that is the case. Wanting safer drugs all the way... Erin
Guest guest
Debbie, I am a teacher and have seen Ritalin work on very few and far between children, but for the ones it does work for, it has very positive results. However, I do not think this drug is the answer. Have any of these parents tried dietary changes? Epsom salt baths? Supplementation? Essential fatty acids? All these things have been proven to help, or completely cure, ADD or ADHD. But it certainly is a lot easier for most people to give their child a pill twice a day, as opposed to learning the natural alternatives. How about acupuncture? Flower essences? No dairy or wheat? The list goes on and on. It is so much easier to pack a Lunchables and a candy bar for lunch, today's diet just about creeps me out! So, in one sense, I see what you are saying, but my feelings are that it is very sad that parents are so easy to give their children things that are harmful to them, drugs and diet included. My wish is that these people would become educated as to the alternatives, and maybe a school for troubled children would be the place to start this type of parent education.
