VEGETABLES COULD CAUSE RAMPANT CANCER

 

Eating vegetables could be the cause of a cancer that is growing at the

fastest rate in the UK, researchers say.

 

Scientists believe the increased use of nitrate fertilisers since the Second

World War may be one of the main reasons for the rise in gullet cancer.

 

Causes of the cancer, which claims the lives of more than 3,000 people in the

UK every year, have trebled in 20 years.

 

And organic food was no healthier, the Glasgow University researchers said.
