Guest guest
I get chickens that are grain fed thinking I'm not getting any drugs through eating them. I this correct? Thanks in advance . . . Dana
Guest guest
Only if they are certified organic or Bio Dynamic can you be sure that there are no drugs in them - grain fed doesn't mean that they have not given them growth hormones for example. Marianne >> Marrianne, I am a little confused. If the chicken is not given any growth hormones, does that still mean that we have a problem because the grains fed to them may have hormones etc. Then, a brand like Laura's beef which claims no hormones, antibiotics etc would still be unacceptable because of the feed. Is this correct? Jean
Guest guest
No Jean - Laura's Beef are a very good source of organic meat I am led to understand. Organic is the only real meat that you can buy that will not have growth hormone in it. Bio Dynamic means that it is doubly organic because they grow their own feed organically as well. In the UK, all organic suppliers are issued with a Soil Association certificate and there is another type for bio dynamic which I cannot remember at the moment. If you have the same in the USA, you can contact these suppliers and ask them for their Soil Association (or equivalent) number. There are other types of chicken that are grain fed but are not organic so be careful. Marianne > I am a little confused. Guest guest
Dana, I'm not sure where you are, but I know Marianne is in the UK and I haven't heard of the bio dynamic thing here in the US. I look for naturally raised (free range) with no hormones or anibiotics. I agree with Marianne that just grain fed doesn't mean naturally raised. A good brand for this is Bell and Evans. Jean, the only way to know is to contact them and ask the question, I don't know enough about the sources in the US to be able to help you. I do know that Free range does not necessarily mean growth hormone free. Marianne > Marrianne....Laura's Beef is not described in my store as 'organic'..
