--- Donna,

I've found that tea tree oil and aloe vera (100%) have been

helpful. Comfrey might do the trick. Comfrey salve is available at

most hfs. Chromium picolinate, vitamin E (1,000 mgs daily)

vanadium ,fenugreek and alfalfa help with glucose management.

God Bless,

JoAnn

Hi Donna,

If the problem is due to blood circulation to the foot then cayenne

pepper is strongly advised.

It has saved even a gangrenous foot.

An excerpt :

" Blood and Circulation

Cayenne stimulates blood flow - instantly. It dilates arterial walls and

cuts through mucus in the veins, thus increasing circulation to the

extremities and helping overall to lower blood pressure. It strengthens

the heart, arteries, capillaries and the nerves. "

A Doctor by the name of Gerald Sunnen has a patent on treating

diabetic ulcers with ozone bagging or funneling. YOu can find his

information on the net under search terms " Sunnen and Ozone " from

google.com. I have also read of results with ozonated olive oil.

It is a very inexpensive treatment to used the oil. Equipment to

do bagging can be a little costly generators running about 1250

and up. One other thing that may help and I have used this

treatment for years for chronic fatigue and viral induced cirrhosis,

is to take baths in one pint of h2o2 at 35%. Work great for me and

very clean feeling. Ischemia (poor circulation, lack of oxygen and

glucose ultilization) causes the diabetic ulcers, so, the treatment

seems obvious enough.

--- I would think the liquid extracts and/or capsules would be the

best for circulation in terms of effectiveness, but then again

perhaps not everyone could handle it, especially any with IBS or

related problems. I've found this to be true in my case with ginger

supplements, that's why I prefer ginger as an infusion or in foods

rather than as a food supplement (again, for fluid arteries) and I

wouldn't be w/o it on a daily basis. Then again you will find that

foods have benefits that just don't exist with supplements. :-) I

think that if I were troubled at the moment with blockage or with

impaired circulation, I would undoubtedly try to obtain it in more

than one form. I believe the following statement to be true of ginger

and cayenne also...

* " Research has confirmed the benefits of carrots, which contain high

doses of beta-carotene and vitamin A. Scientists have bottled

these 'magic' potions into pills they say we can pop to keep our

hearts healthy and prevent cancer. But there's more to a carrot than

betacarotene! There are substances called carotenoids, which you

won't find in mass-produced vitamins. You only find these in fresh,

raw carrots! "

Cheers,

Thanks for the discussion. I've not tried cayenne or ginger in the form of

liquid extracts. I'll give it a try.

I'm not sure how much cayenne (or ginger) as food directly eaten, is

necessary to achieve a more therapeutic effect in aiding people with

compromised circulation; but I'll continue experimenting to find out. Both

cayenne and ginger are extremely potent ingredients or additions to foods

and recipes.

Just a little warning about the liquid extract of cayenne -- YOW! It is

VERY hot and spicy, and just one drop in a full glass of water is tough to

take, at least in the brand I tried. I would suggest capsules for the

cayenne!

--- Marianne,

Is this due to diabetic problems or something else that she is

deficient in.

If it is infected I would soak it in Epsom salts immediately.

Other than that the salves I mentioned might be helpful...I wouldn't

guarantee that they would take it away though they might tend to

soothe it. I do think the cayenne and ginger would help the

circulation to the leg if taken in supplement form!

See if you can get her to exercise it by moving even if it's from her

chair...any exercise will help to get the circulation going again.

you may email me with the specifics if you wish!

A diabetic friend of mine did this without supervision (he is 40,

" shouldn't " have required supervision). The problem was that he couldn't

really tell how hot the water was and ended up with 3rd degree burns on his

feet. So be careful.

---Donna,

Here's some things I found on Cayenne this morning. Thought I'd

pass it on for you...

Cayenne pepper in the field of western herbalism is considered a

cure-all! It acts as a diaphoretic, antiseptic, tonic, rubefacient,

carmative, anti-asthmatic, pain reliever, sialagugue, and is a

powerful immune stimulant! Cayenne is widely used as a catalyst or

potentiator in herbal formulas. It has antibacterial and antifungal

affects and stimulates kidney enzyme activity. Cayenne can lower

cholesterol levels, thin the blood, normalize blood pressure, and

fight fatigue! It facilitates the whole digestive process as uncooked

Cayenne is not irritating to the digestive system.

It may surprise you to learn that Cayenne is used as a herb in it's

dry powdered form. Only when it is cooked, is it a major irritant to

the digestive tract.

The adverse effects of prescription drugs and their rally recalls

the wwords of Sir Francis Bacon, " Cure the disease, kill the

patient. " Cayenne, used internally or externally is renowned for it's

ability to aid circulation.

One study found that half of all heart patients were nutritionally

deficient. It is important to remember that the herb Cayenne is a

food is that is is capable of nourishing our heart.

In the book " Capsicum " written by Dr. John Christopher, many different

varieties of Cayenne pepper have been studied for their medicinal

benefits. Of all the varieties studied, African Birdeye peppers were

found to retain heat in the body longer than any other variety,

therefore producint longer lasting health benefits.

The heat of the various varieties of peppers is measured in units

called Scoville units. From the green bell pepper with a Scoville

rating of -0-, the peppers are ranked up through the Habanero or

Scotch Bonnet peppers with heat ratings of several hundred thousand

Scoville units, or the hottest peppers known to man.

Cayenne appears to be a therapeutic herbs for many ailments.

Researchers at West Virginia University and Loma Linda University

school of medicine found that Cayenne may even protect against

cancer. Capsaicin prevents the liver from turning certain compounds

such as aflatoxins, found in peanut butter, into carcinogens. In

Great Britain and Japan, researchers found that Cayenne can cause the

body to burn up to 25% more calories in a day than it normally would.

A recent Japanese patent claims that Cayenne alkaloids are effective

for treatment of liver disease.

How about good old lemon juice.

That is all i ever used on my 2 childrens sores when they were younger.

Don't know what diabetic sores are like, but it wouldn't hurt to try it.

That is so awful, he made his problem worse whilst trying to natural clear

it. I know that this lady would not take off her bandages to do anything

like this so I will not worry about that. Thanks

Soaking doesn't require scalding hot water to achieve results. I

have had good results with a lukewarm mixture.
