Very interesting article I received.

Can you guess which fruit is one of the healthiest?

Sure, you can go on squeezing those oranges and munching those apples. But if

you're after one of the best disease-fighting foods in the garden, look no

further than the bright red cranberry. A new study (published in the Journal

of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a peer-reviewed journal of the American

Chemical Society) finds that out of the 19 most commonly-consumed fruits,

cranberries contain the highest quantity of disease-fighting phenols, a type

of antioxidant believed to reduce the risk of cancer, stroke and heart

disease. Researchers have known for years that cranberries are high in

antioxidants and that they also help prevent urinary tract infections and may

reduce the risk of gum disease, stomach ulcers and cancer. But this is the

first study to detail their beneficial phenol content. So don't wait for

Thanksgiving to relish this red relish. And start sipping 100 percent pure

cranberry juice now -- add a splash of apple juice to soften the tartness.

I buy Apple & Eve cranberry juice. Is there a better brand that is 100%

cranberry juice.

I forget who it was, but someone on one of my health lists reminded

me to fill my freezer with fresh cranberries when they were available in the

stores here in the US over the winter holidays. Now I just add a small

handful to fruit smoothies. No added sugar or corn sweeteners that way.

I am keeping my eyes peeled for straight frozen cranberry juice concentrate

with no water & no other juices or sweeteners. My freezer is small & I

suspect I will run out of cranberries by late Spring.

--- marianne and Jean,

Apple & Eve is a healthy brand. " After the Fall " is an excellent

brand available in many HFSs, although it's sort of pricey at times.

Any frozen unpastuerized brands free of sugar or artifical sweeteners

will suffice. The sugar-laden varieties and pasteurization process

(which depletes nutrients) tends to promote disease and robs your

bodies of vital nutrients. sugar depletes your body of B-vitamin

stores. fresh is best both for enzyme content and beneficial

nutrients (OPCs)
