Pots and Pans

I was wondering if anyone could advise me about buying a new set of pots and

pans. I know that so many have these coatings on them that make me afraid to

cook in them. I want to make sure that whatever I buy is not harmful to us

since I have many chemical sensitivities and try to do things as natural as

possible. Cast iron is out of the questions since I have pain in my wrists

and cannot lift it very well. Any advice would be appreciated.

Preference #1, teflon coated aluminum. The teflon is quite inert and

doesn't come off the more modern pans.

#2, a stainless steel alloy that a magnet sticks to (if a magnet does

not stick to it, then it has nickel in it).

Avoid uncoated aluminum

--- Donna,

The stainless steel pans that I use also have the aluminum bottom.

These are only coated on the outside only so I consider them safe.

--- Donna,

You're so very welcome. I use a LOT of stainless steel, corningware

and pyrex pans. I am of the opinion that they have by far the best

surfaces for cooking and the health hazards are not there that are

present in coated cookware surfaces. One internet site stated that

the coating permeates the food while cooking. also teflon and

various other newer coatings are listed as carcinogens on various

sites.

I thank you all so much for your input about pots and pans. I think I will

go with stainless steel.
