Guest guest
Pam, I often make up my own protein shake with some variation of: Powdered milk and eggs (sometimes also powdered), in a blender with some eggs (or egg beaters) and some liquid milk (or water or rice milk or almond milk). Add some vanilla extract, some splenda, stevia.., cinnamon, ice cubes if you like, and blend. You can add solid carbs and thicken up the shake by using some raw oatmeal or frozen fruit. (as Michael says, you need the carbs after the weight training for muscle growth) And a spoon of glutamine, or some flaxseed oil, if the occasion calls for it. All these ingredients have labels, so it's easy to mix & match to come up with the proper nutrition profile for your shake. It will all cost pennies next to pre-made protein powders and I know exactly what is in it. It's also very easy to get down and to digest (actually all shakes are) which is key after I've been weight training hard or running. At that time, I couldn't contemplate eating meat and I want some nutrition back in the body. I've also got my sister started on this who claims she can't stomach solid food first thing in the morning. Lori At 09:01 PM 01/22/2002 -0800, you wrote: >Hi Michael, > >I agree. Guest guest
Hi Lori, Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, that is why I want to have a good protein drink. To drink after or before a workout. Oh, thanks for that web site you suggested. Had a lot of very good information!
