Guest guest
Morning Pam, >Yes, I am eating just whole, fresh foods now. I am going to order some >whey protein, sweetened with stevia, to use in a shake for a fast, easy >way of upping my protein intake. I'm going to add VCO for an extra energy >goose. Sounds like you have it all figured out, or nearly so. You will keep us posted when you reach the final formula, I trust. <grin> It is no easy task. I have been studying this mess longer than you have been alive ( I hope, for your benefit ) and I am still confused. I think, what would be good for all of us, would to be lost in the jungle for about six months. Then we would have no problem selecting our food. Anything that did not eat us first would be our table fare for the day. We would learn that our taste buds are not so important. Due to the fact that our favorite foods are not available, we would forget about them and find replacements. Of course some of us would die because of the mind set about specific foods. Relative to this stevia stuff.... I have a fiber product that contains stevia. It looks decent with about 29 different herbs contained therein. It came with a parasite kit. I have added 1 tbs of this to my protein drink a few times. The stevia taste comes thru stronger than anything else. I detest the taste of stevia. I think I could taste 1 mg in 5 gallons of water. Possibly some of you saw the guy on Larry King with in the last year that was one of the oldest body builders and health freaks in the country. When Larry King asked him what he ate and how he made such decisions, his reply, " If it tastes sweet, spit it out " . Gee, I wish I could think of his name. You have not mentioned the pros and cons of boiled eggs. Some people are opposed to eating eggs, and other simply do not like them. However, we should give the devil his dues when making our choice of foods. Wayne
Guest guest
Afternoon, Wayne, MMM Never tasted stevia. I let you know how I like it when I try it with my protein drink. I eat my eggs raw, as prescribd by Dr. Henry G. Bieler, author of Food Is Your Best Medicine (especially effective for depleted adrenal glands). Guest guest
Hi John, Dr. Bieler recommends that the egg white should never be cooked. Guest guest
Pam I don't know what to make of these opinions. But, the doctor I referred to, Dr. Gerald Benesh, a natural foods and fasting healer in So. California, didn't want people to eat egg white, raw or cooked. These doctors do research, and come to different conclusions based on what they find out. More importantly, Benesh felt, that if you cooked food, you may enjoy it, but, in his view, you derived virtually no nutritional benefit from it. - " Pamela Southall " <southallp Wednesday, January 23, 2002 3:44 PM Re: Weight Training-Food Selection > > Hi John, > > Dr. Bieler recommends that the egg white should never be cooked. > > Pam > > John Polifronio <counterpnt wrote: My doctor, also prescribed a raw egg " yolks " a few times a week, in freshly > extracted juice, in the morning; but was opposed to using the white of the > egg raw, in this manner. > > - > " Pamela Southall " <southallp > > Wednesday, January 23, 2002 2:45 PM > Re: Weight Training-Food Selection > > > > > > Afternoon, Wayne, > > > > MMM Never tasted stevia. Guest guest
Evening John, At 03:10 PM 01/23/2002 -0800, you wrote: >My doctor, also prescribed a raw egg " yolks " a few times a week, in freshly >extracted juice, in the morning; but was opposed to using the white of the >egg raw, in this manner. I know a young bodybuilder, about the age of my son ( 34 ) who will only eat the egg whites. I have been meaning to do some research and try to convince him to eat the whole egg. Do you remember why thought the egg whites a bad idea? Is that maybe where the bacteria and bad stuff is in the egg, if there happens to be bad bacteria, ect in it? I have been using the whole egg, raw, in my protein drinks. Until I find some new evidence, I suppose I will continue to do it. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I've been eating whole, raw eggs for years with no problems. Guest guest
Actually, though he's probably around 90 years old (with all his teeth, hair, and no eyeglasses), he may or may not still be practicing medicine in San Marcos, Ca. I don't know where you are, but you can call Dr. Gerald Benesh. He's happy to answer questions on the phone. My guess is that he was concerned about the loss of biotin, and perhaps other nutrients that are bound up in egg white and taken out of the body. A younger colleague of his, a Dr. Cinque, currently in practice, and a hygienist, natural foods doctor, advised me not to use any raw egg in my diet, when I went to visit him, while he was still in practice in California. By the way, about a year ago, I saw a photo of Benesh, in his late 80s, in a health magazine. He was shown with about a 40lb dumbell in his right hand, over his head, with a grin on his face. - " Wayne Fugitt " <wayne Wednesday, January 23, 2002 4:30 PM Re: Weight Training-Food Selection > Evening John, > > At 03:10 PM 01/23/2002 -0800, you wrote: > >My doctor, also prescribed a raw egg " yolks " a few times a week, in freshly > >extracted juice, in the morning; but was opposed to using the white of the > >egg raw, in this manner. > > I know a young bodybuilder, about the age of my son ( 34 ) who will only > eat the egg > whites. > > I have been meaning to do some research and try to convince him to eat > the whole egg. > > Do you remember why thought the egg whites a bad idea? Guest guest
re: raw egs -- I think that's because the white contains biotin which is supposed to inhibit absorption of nutrients. I don't buy that, and eat the whole egg. --Michael Gettingwell, " John Polifronio " <counterpnt@e...> wrote: > My doctor, also prescribed a raw egg " yolks " a few times a week, in freshly > extracted juice, in the morning; but was opposed to using the white of the > egg raw, in this manner. > > - > " Pamela Southall " <southallp> > <Gettingwell> > Wednesday, January 23, 2002 2:45 PM > Re: Weight Training-Food Selection > > > > > > Afternoon, Wayne, > > > > MMM Never tasted stevia. Furthermore the harmful strain of salmonela [sic] is caused by improper feeding of the chickens (ie too much grains no grass). If you're eating raw eggs you should use free range grass fed chickens. > I have been using the whole egg, raw, in my protein drinks. Until I > find some new evidence, I suppose I will continue to do it. **** I've seen the evidence and I just don't buy it. No other animal throws away the white. I've also seen evidence which disputes the other evidence so unless someone gives a real convincing arguement I'm sticking with whole eggs. --Michael
Guest guest
No, biotin is a part of the vitamin-B complex. The concern was that eating raw egg whites caused biotin deficiences. That has been refuted. Pam medwards706 <medwards706 wrote: re: raw egs -- I think that's because the white contains biotin which is supposed to inhibit absorption of nutrients.
