Guest guest
BlankWhat do you people out there think about all this activity from the organisations trying to stop the use of natural herbs and medicines. I believe the pharmaceuticals are involved in this, and one of the organisations is ,called Codex. Are any of you writing to your ministers in your government. Over in England the eec are trying to bring what they call Harmonization to the supplement industry. But in the event what they want to do is to reduce the dosage of all supplements to what they call the RDA levels which are ridiculously low. SO do any of you feel strongly about this? Are you worried, or do you think that good will win over evil? Interested in your views. Anne from England
Guest guest
Dear Anne from England Good can, in principle, win over evil, but not, if we fail to make an effort equal to the task; and stopping Codex Alimentarius is a very formidable task. There are billions of extra dollars to be made, if the pharmaceutical houses and other interests, can substantially reduce the availability of vitamins, nutritional supplements, herbs, etc. Codex has money, power and, best of all, public apathy on its side; in spite of hundreds of millions of letters of protest which the Codex people have received, against their plan. Unfortunately, there are many millions more, of people (i.e. potential customers) that, eventually, will let Codex slide through. Relatively few people know about Codex, so that, in spite of the strong opposition to it, that a minority of the international community feel, I'm afraid, it will remain just that, a minority. Only a handful stand to gain richly from Codex, and most other people don't care enough to stop this nonsense, even if we could reach them with information about our concerns. I'm not suggesting that we give up the fight, I'm just not very optimistic that we can prevail, with anything less than the strongest reaction and protest. The drug merchants and the politicians they can buy, may not be able to withstand the bad PR they'd face, if we could create a big enough uproar. best wishes John P. - " Vanadeux " <vanadeux Friday, January 18, 2002 12:14 PM A question for anyone that cares to make a comment ? > BlankWhat do you people out there think about all this activity from the organisations trying to stop the use of natural herbs and medicines.
