Labeling can be eighty percent sodium free. Anything that is not 100%

sodium free usually has the additives.

Also, there is a brand that is imported from Thailand,...I believe it

is...that is just the bluefin tuna and water. Believe me I searched

for it!

JoAnn,

Thanks. I do recall seeing salt free or low salt tuna in the HFS. The

cost was very high. It is an ongoing adjustment to pay the price for quality

food. Of course, one;s health has to be the primary consideration.

Is there a huge difference in the quality of the light meat vs. white meat

tuna?

I usually buy the Miramonte brand and it contains tongol tuna, water and salt

(or salt-free). It's available at my local HFS and costs about a buck (and

according to the can it was caught " dolphin-safe " which is hopefully

true...).

--- Jean,

The sodium free tuna is available in most grocery stores and the

imported tuna is actually somewhat cheaper than the traditional

Starkist and Bumble Bee brands. It's labeling states " natural " tuna

and it seems as if it is.

Yes I agree. There can be no price put on health. Without it we

have nothing!

Good foods are the very best in " healthcare " .

How does the taste compare to Albacore tuna in Bumblebee or Starkist brand?

As I don't buy these brands and haven't for years and years, I couldn't tell

you, sorry!

It tastes good to me, though, especially the salted version...

Yes, it does, doesn't it... I believe it is the law that only " dolphin-safe "

tuna can be sold in the USA, however what exactly the standard is for this

law I don't know... It is my understanding that tongol tuna (longfin tuna) is

just another kind of tuna like yellowfin, albacore or others... Maybe they

are area-specific?

" Dolphin-safe " ...it has a natural ring to it! LOL Also, what

exactly is tongol tuna? I've read that yellowfin or bluefin are the

best, but one can always learn something new. :-)
