Hi all and thank you for your comments on my question.

I'd been going to general shiatsu practitioners still in training and

not really able to diagnose yet - they just do general shiatsu

massage at this point.

But... here's what's happened since I first wrote... I did ease off

the low-carb diet to something that probably winds up being a lot

more like the Zone diet... more carbs, but good ones and still not

that much. But fewer meats and fats.

I haven't been back to shiatsu in a little while, however my aching

hand/arm and longlasting ankle sprain are resolving - I suspect so is

the 'painful meridians' part. Generally, I'm not so achy.

I did recently consult with a Chinese herbalist. On a very hot day.

He took one look at my tongue, heard my general set of complaints

(which was back to the chronic difficulty losing weight/low thyroid

and taking thyroid hormone/afternoon fatigue/some skin problems)...

and suggested Fang Feng Tong Sheng San. Its general purpose as I

understand it is to move heat or bad stuff down and out of the

system. Plus he gave me a Jing tonic and chi-supporting tea.

My tongue was red, he said, and I was exhibiting heat I believe he

said on the exterior. (It was hot, my face was probably pretty red...)

So anyhow, the main effects I'm noticing from the Fang Feng Tong

Sheng San are a lot of digestive activity, no hyperactivity at all

though there's ma huang in it, and a clearing feeling... I'm not

getting muscle aches and shoulder tension like I did before.

On the combo of formulas my energy is really getting more even too...

I'm not noticing the deep afternoon fatigue that I had before.

So far, so good. Cautiously optimistic. I still have some skin issues

that haven't resolved (spottiness on abdomen, and a hairline rash

that I suspect is yeast related).
