Hi Pat,

Just a few words from a Wood Element that has been giving workshops

for about 31 years.

....and, no one has to agree with anything I say, even though

everything I say is based upon actual experience.

.... " if " you don't charge, they will not appreciate it as much.

That attitude is Human nature.

....and, even if there are some that you " let in free " , still charge

but in a way that costs them no money, but does cost them effort.

Here is one way on how you can do that.

Give them a " work-study " scholarship.

Because they preform some task, ie, cleaning the area, dusting,

picking up, etc (let your imagination flow here)...

Stay away from that word " free " , because that word " free " creates an

incorrect attitude in the clients...

....most will not practice, when the info is free...

....many will forget to attend, when the info is free...

....and, if they do attend, they treat the " time " as if it were a

social gathering, instead of a LEARNING TIME.

Since you are the one incharge, you are also in charge of what they

do, how they think about what they do, and the importance they give

with their intentions to what they are learning.

> etc. and no one seems to mind.

They won't mind. If they do mind, that just means the presentor did

a lousy job of communication of the importance of the materials.

>I would love to hear what others are doing - does anyone show

>Donna's videos?

I advise against this. It is much better to study the videos, and

then teach what is on the videos.

Video time is normally " zonk-out " time.

If you do videos, then FIRST make up a study sheet of the important

concepts to watch for...and require that those sheets be turned in

afterwards.

Unfortunately there are two basic forms of motivation, the stick and

the carrot...and in our society, the stick works much better. Again,

don't believe me...just check out the resource materials. Much of it

out there.

If anyone wants to know " why specifically " , ask.

Stay SAFE.
