Guest guest
Hello Elizabeth, Can you tell me if the responses that the patient experience(whether bruising, diarrhhea, or whatever the " bodys response " ) mean anything? Is there any documented cases that they will get response A or response B? I am looking for cause and effect. I think there has to be some cause/effect process if bruising or whatever occurs after the body is adjusting. But as you said " Every person reacts differently " which makes sense because of our own uniqueness. When someone tells me that " something " may or may not happen to me any unknowns are big " what ifs? " . How can I distinguish what happens as a response to the treatment as opposed to something totally different? Suggestion: 1. Lay things out to the patient as doc said the the road map is important. 2. You may also want to set up your practice so that it is a requirement or it is to their benefit (or however you want to phrase it) that they document and get back with you on how their body's responses were over XX time frame so YOU can continue with the sessions....it could be for your own records, your own R & D or understanding or just to catalogue the patient rsponses. I do not know if the Bowen account for what the responses were and then detemine a treatment from there but the point is " DOCUMENTATION " OF course I say that because I am looking at it thru my own lenses. I know from my experience as a patient, I have received treatements from people where all I had to do was sit and not even think about anything...just being a recipient to treatment....NOT actively participating in it. I felt more in control of my situation when they asked me about X, Y or Z or even if they told me to note how I my body is responding to the session. It was odd because I really thought this lady was a quack eventhough what she was doing was actually working as I noticed the shifts in me.....Just having people do things to me feels like I am going to an operating room and being cut open ro have operation XXX done to me....and voila! You are fixed. Sometimes it's OK but when it's the first time seeing a person, you really ask " Did I just get hosed? " And that may be just the heavy metal in me that is talking / asking / analyzing. J
