I am a Traditional Reiki Master of the Usui linage. There are technically 3

levels but customarily taught in 4 sections. The 2nd degree as taught by

early masters is extremely full of information and quite complicated so many

now break it into two parts, 2nd degree and Advanced Practitioner. The third

level is Master.

 

That said there are many who wish to expand Reiki. I think $$$$ is probably

the main reason. Find a good Usui Master and you will get all you need to be

an effective healer.

 

I believe that the world is becoming more ready for Reiki healers. We must

let the world know we are ready for them. I came in contact with a Bell South

yellow pages salesperson a few months ago. I questioned her about the fact

that BS insisted on a business line before you could have a listing in the

yellow pages. She informed me that just 3 days before, realizing that they

were losing revenue, the company had OK'd yellow page listings for people

with cell phones! Of course I signed up with a listing under Holistic

Practitioners as a Reiki Master (one line, $10 per month) and a listing under

hypnotherapist with a second line for my website for $20 per month! The book

came out October 1 and I've had several calls!!

 

Moral of my story... We must let the world know we exist and not hide in the

corner as an anomaly.

as far as I've been taught, the highest level you can go to in reiki is

Master/Teacher ... which would be level 4; level 3 being Master.

 

I don't really speak to my Master any longer, or I'd ask her ... but I'm

certain that there is only the 4.

I bought the very same book and I'm embarrassed to say I got another one by

the same phony. Once I read them, I was both mad & embarrassed. I have

always hoped someone would reveal that guy for what he is.

It sounds as if your Reiki friends are talking about one of the branches of

Reiki - either Karuna Reiki or one of the other ones. These are legitimate

branches in that practitioners with a solid Usui Reiki background have

extended the knowledge according to what has *come* to them personally, in

whatever form.

 

What one does have to be careful of is accepting info (in any field) without

researching it. I am interested in seeing what the other Reiki folks on

this list have to say on this subject.

Hi Cristi,

 

I'm on that list as well. And yes, you are right, Tradition Usui

really only has 3 levels. A fourth was added for people who want to

become Master's, but don't want to teach (which I think is silly,

because in Trad. Usui you don't have to teach...you only become a

Teacher once you BEGIN to teach...otherwise you're just a Master).

The 5th and 6th levels much be newly created " add-ons " which aren't

part of Usui Reiki. Not that they aren't valuable...you'd have to

experience them to see, as most all " new " Reiki's have value. I am

curious about them, but at the same time, do not feel a need to

pursue them at this point.
