My first "take" on your question is that you don't yet have clear

cut ideas on where you want to go in life, nor steps to where you

want to go in life, where you desire to go in life, and neither have

you Time Lined those goals into the future...

Hi Doc:

It seems at times, that something you say or others do, that I get triggered by ideas that I have not formulated in my mind, but about which I had a sense that they were hovering above in my consciousness.

The thing with goals has often been problematic for me. What I mean is, if I set goals while being rational and conscious, in beta, they seldom materialize, and in fact, as I mentioned before, I get the exact opposite of what I wanted.

Things like if I want to lose a couple of pounds, I will gain 5 pounds, or when I was preparing to go to Law School after college, my transcript got screwed up and none of the law schools got my full transcripts, so that it looked like I was missing 20 credits, stuff like that.

On the other hand, when I follow my "intuition," not planning ahead, but sorta going along with what feels right for me, it almost appears that what lies ahead is effortless and the exact right thing for me. Like when I told a friend in college about the law school thing, someone overheard me in the hallway of the school, and directed me to the Sports Psychology Department. Getting into the program was effortless, as other things like Think and Grow Rich falling to my feet 5 times in a Pharmacy while I was on vacation, and that opening the door to my thinking as well as other "paths."

I did set goals and wrote them down in the past, and read them frequently, and put some on my time line, and it just "felt" wrong for me.....like some sort of pressure to having to achieve them. Perhaps I am self-sabotaging, or setting up unconscious (and conscious) blocks, it just appears in hindsight, that when I don't try to be in the driver's seat, so to speak, I get to destinations that far exceed where I would have been, had I used my conscious goals.

There are dozens and dozens of examples of this "being led" thing, I won't bore you with any more of them. Do you think that I ought to just stop beating myself up for not meeting my goals in the "regular" way (although I consider Silva to be the regular way by now)...and just follow my feelings? I know its a stupid question, and I ought to know what to do, and I do, I just wanted to get your feedback from your perspective on this goal setting thing.

Thanks Doc.
