Newly 'painful' meridians

Hi all - new here, and more of a shiatsu recipient than an

acupuncture patient.

Something has happened over maybe the last several months or more

than a year that I would appreciate input on.

While admittedly I need to do more stretching and spend too much time

behind a desk, a year or more ago shiatsu pressure on all the

standard points along my meridians was not typically painful. I did

have some areas from the base of my spine radiating to my hips that

were sensitive and had what felt like surface nerve pain when regular

pressure was applied. (The only other pain I'd felt in shiatsu was if

someone pressed really hard, the typical sore 'ow maybe a little

lighter please' pain.)

But over the past several months several channels on my legs and arms

(front/back/sides of them) have had more of that 'surface nerve pain'

such that it stings or zings and aches when normal shiatsu pressure

is applied. I haven't seen it isolated to one meridian, rather seems

to involve multiple meridians/systems.

What generally is likely going on here - do such things result from

chi blockages, or what?

My health otherwise by Western terms is basically okay, though I take

thyroid hormone for hypothyroidism, and have had some fatigue/stress

to cope with over the past several months, along with a few aches and

pains I didn't used to have - a couple-year-old ankle sprain (that

looked standard and typical on x-ray right after it happened) still

carries pain that responds to deep muscle rubs in that area. And some

hand/wrist cramping, etc. - my job involves lots of keyboard use.

One thing that's helped slightly to alleviate general aches and pains

(but not the meridian thing) has been easing up on low-carb dieting.

The standard classic part of my health history has been weight gain

or inability to lose on caloric levels (with or without carbs, etc.)

that on paper should indicate a loss for my weight/sex/activity

level.
