Guest guest
I found this help in my Womans World It has worked for me. Peg Discover the herbs that... ERASE MENOPAUSE They're simple, safe, side effect-free -- and these herbs and supplements can get rid of hot flashes, mood swings and more. What's the big deal about The Change? In a recent survey, 87% of women just past menopause reported that it wasn't so bad -- and in fact, the end of periods and PMS is often viewed as a relief. It's the 24 to 36 months BEFORE you reach menopause that can be the problem. " When their ovaries start shutting down, eighty percent of women struggle with symptoms like hot flashes, mood changes and vaginal dryness, " says Anne Louise Gittleman, author of 'Super Nutrition for Menopause.' And hormone replacement therapy can cause bleeding and weight gain. To the rescue: these natural supplements. Even if you're battling a slew of symptoms, studies suggest you can conquer them all in four short weeks with: * The all-in-one remedy: Black cohosh When researchers pitted black cohosh against the drug Premarin, they discovered the herb was just as effective as the powerful manufactured estrogen -- providing relief from everything from hot flashes and vaginal dryness to anxiety and depression! Black cohosh is a source of estrogenic sterols -- tools your body uses to maintain its steady supply of estrogen and progesterone. " The most well-studied black cohosh extract is Remifemin, " says Matthew Wood, author of 'The Book of Herbal Wisdom.' " Take one two-hundred milligram capsule daily and you'll see improvements in as little as one week. * The expert-recommended backup plan: Chasteberry Second only to black cohosh as a menopause remody is the herb chasteberry. Packed with mild plant hormones, it's a mainstay of menopause treatments in Europe. And for good reason: just 200 mg. daily relieves hot flashes, fluid retention, nervousness, anxiety and depression for up to 70% of women studied. " It acts on the pituitary gland to help increase the production of progesterone, " says Marie Miczak, Ph.D., author of 'Nature's Weeds and Native Medicines.' * Rx for hot flashes: Red clover Once you've had one, you'll never forget it -- that flush of heat, lasting anywhere from two minutes to half an hour. Hot flashes can cause prespiration, heart palpitations -- and wake women up repeatedly at night. Now doctors say they're easily erased, thanks to Promensil -- an extract made from red clover. In a just-released study, one 40-mg. capsule daily cut the strength of hot flashes by 70% in four weeks. Experts say red clover's heat-taming ingredients are mild plant estrogens. Each Promensil capsule packs the amount found in one cup of soy milk and eight cups of chickpeas, without the 2,000 extra calories. Promensil, chasteberry and black cohosh are sold in health-food stores and pharmacies. As with any supplement, ask your doctor before taking them. EXTRA: The champion fatigue-fighter If your most troubling symptom is daytime fatigue, a daily dose of Siberian ginseng may be all you need, say the pros. " It improves stamina, " says Rob McCaleb of the Herb Research Foundation. What's more, studies show taking just 360 mg. daily (standardized to contain 0.8% eleutherosides) also boosts the immune system and cuts sick days as much as 40%! If you get insomnia, experts recommend taking ginseng before lunch so its energizing effect can wear off by bedtime. Guest guest
Dear Linda, Get off milk, and take 1/2 a teaspoon of maca a day. Pacific Island women never have cow's milk, they have coconut milk. Never have hot flashes. Also many do not have a word similar to 'menopause' in their language. Judith Is there a remedy for hot flashes? Anyone know of a good recipe to use for them. Thanks,Linda

Guest guest
, " Margaret " <me.chalkley@b...> wrote: > I am curious about post menopause hot flashes. > Does anyone know what causes them > and are they a good or bad thing?, > > I know they are not very pleasant. > Thank You > Margaret Hot flashes are caused by the aging process (so they say) and the resulting lack of estrogen. I use black cohosh tea almost daily and follow a purely natural organic foods diet in order to diminish symptoms. I believe that menopausal symptoms can be effectively reduced and/or eliminated by proper diet and herbal supplementation and I have never used the synthetic alternatives. Lentils, legumes and unprocessed beans provide the phytoestrogens that take up our hormone recepter sites, while also correcting the imbalances that cause these symptoms I've found that pinto beans are exceptionally good for this. Another fabulous food for menopause is the middle eastern dip Hummus. Garlic, chickpeas, pintos and black-eyed peas provide us with more of the essential phytoestrogens. It is said that in the Far eastern cultures, women seldom are plagued with menopause symptoms. In fact, it is said that there is no word that corresponds with our word for menopause in their language! It may be their high consumption of soybeans and other beans. It is hard to say, but I do believe that diet plays an important part. These Chinese women typically consume more unprocessed rice and fewer refined foods/grains, a wide variety of home grown vegetables, no dairy, and considerably less red meat than our western cultures. Diet is more closely linked to these types of female problems than anyone wants to admit. Refined processed foods are at the core of these problems, for they're sorely lacking in all the necessary minerals, enzymes and other nutrients that we need in order to lead a more healthy life. We need more nutrients to deal with our toxic surroundings. Dioxins are so prevalent in everything we eat especially animal proteins. Dioxins take up our hormone recepter sites, keep circulating thoughout the body, and eventually clogging up the liver. A very high price indeed to pay for technology. Thank God for more healthy herbs,. Without them I'd not be able to exist. Best Regards, JoAnn
Guest guest
I am 48 years old and have been experiencing menopause symptoms for about a year. For the last three months I have been seeing an acupuncturist/herbalist born, raised and trained in China, I have seen her every week even two – three times a week an taking prescribed herbs 3 times a day. During this period I have gone through periods where the hot flashes were some times better and some times worse. I am currently going through a worse period again. I am starting to question if I am just wasting my time and my money and if I must simply endure this for the next several years. It is starting to strain me financially . Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
