Guest guest
Hi,Does anyone have any idea about controlling palpitations. My wife gets palpitations (fast heartbeats) in the eevenings and nights.Regards,Kishore Grapes have been found effective for palpitations caused by hot flashes and night sweats. Black haw root bark is antispasmodic. It also may help a racing heart. Valerian root tea may ease a racing heart as well. Good luck. If this is a new condition, a trip to the doctors may be appropriate.
Guest guest
Dear Kishore, From my own experience with stress and anxiety, I am also right now having these palpitations. As I write this, I am eating oatmeal because it is good for my heart, and I have grape juice in the refrigerator. Someone told me that these are triggered by anxious thoughts and fears. When I have one, I think to myself, what was I just thinking about? And to what might I change my thoughts to calm myself down. Self talk, prayer, meditation, "giving it to God", talking to a comforting friend, or if none is available, talking to oneself as one, and reading passages of scripture such as the 23rd Psalm. Or writing down the problem and thinking of as many solutions as possible make the problem seem smaller. My therapist said I shouldn't "awfulize" things. "Sufficient unto the day is the trouble therein." Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow, in other words. So Jesus said, "don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything." Tell your wife that she is never alone and that someone is praying for her. Peace and Love, Athena
Guest guest
I had read that dehydration could bring on symptoms as well. I have been a long-term sufferer and I started hydrating daily and taking one 81 ml aspirin a day and my attacks have lessened. I still get a bad one, once in a while, but the regular one's are more like flirting with me, rather than going off fully like before. I try to lesson my stress level as well, although not very sucessfully. lol
Guest guest
Hello, You didn't say what your wife's age is but if she is menapausal or premenapausal this may be the cause of the palpitations. Sudden, severe hormone shifts will cause this problem. She can get topical estrogen at her health food store or vitamin shop to rub on each night. This also relieves night sweats. If she is not old enough to be in menapause, she may have a deificieny of some vitamins or minerals or both. But, be aware that some women show symptoms as early as in their thirties. She should add CoEnzymeQ10 to her daily vitamins as it has been proven to be very helpful for the heart. Minerals are also necessary to control these palpitations. A combo of calcium, magnesium and potassium would probably be helpful. The valerian is very calming (it is the herbal base for Valium without the side effects) and would help her relax. I suffered a lot with this problem but overcame it by incorporating these into my daily diet. I also practiced relaxation techniques and prayerful meditation to keep the panicky feeling a bay. I hope these suggestions help and wish you both the best.
