Guest guest
hello all I need some help I am endeavoring to start making stone tinctures/ essences. I believe i have how to make the mother tincture, from there I am wondering how much exactly, of the vodka do I add,is it 1/2 of the total of the mother essence or is it 1/4 added to the mother essence, or should I make a mix of half purified water and 1/2 vodka to add. the other way I was told is dont add anything it doesnt need it, I think that if any chance of bacterial growth would be halted am I correct that this is the reason why you add it I am seeking advice as this is an area I want to develope thanks for any help have a happy and keep smiling Angelina

Everyone handles this differently, but generally people use between 30% and 50% total preservative in the essence, whether it is the mother essence or further dilutions. The ratio also depends on what preservative you use. If using alcohol as a preservative some people may use 30% to 40%, whereas if using vinegar as a preservative one may use 40% to 50%. There are other possibilities besides alcohol for preservatives, which you may also consider looking into. There's plenty of information online about these alternative options. > the other way I was told is dont add anything it doesnt need it... A preservative is necessary, I feel, to prevent bacterial growth. I personally know three different people who got sick from ingesting essences they made that weren't preserved or properly preserved. Bacterial growth is a significant issue to consider, in addition to proper storage, sterlization of the bottles and all instruments used in the process and so on. Of course the other significant concern is safety of soaking stones in water, either because some can be easily damaged or because the water would be, due to the chemistry of certain stones, unsafe to ingest even in small amounts after said soaking. For that reason I believe that alternative non-soak methods are the only safe way of co-creating essences. These non-soak methods are much safer because the stone never comes into direct contact with the water, yet there is no decrease in efficacy of the energy of the essence in any way. They are just as effective as essences co-created through the direct soaking methods. A related caveat, some publisher authors of popular books recommend soaking certain dangerous stones in water and ingesting the water as an essence. Don't assume that because a well known author is endorsing it that it's safe. That surely isn't the case. It is alarming what some metaphyical authors have advocated in this particular area. In the end I believe that safety is a primary consideration when co- creating essences, which includes, among other things, the proper use of preservatives and the use of non-soak methods of essence co-creation. I'm sure others will have a lot to add. I hope the above is helpful in some small way. Guest guest
hello I have decided alcohol is the way I'll go, it is what I have for tincturing herbs, So if I have it I just as well use it. I have bought a box full of stone chips and I plan to wrap them around the jar for some of them, especiall y for the garnets I just recieved, they havent had died stones before and the garnets came in from india died. and I know you cant use malechite due to the copper content and so on. > These non-soak methods are much safer because the stone never comes > into direct contact with the water, yet there is no decrease in > efficacy of the energy of the essence in any way. They are just as > effective as essences co-created through the direct soaking methods. I dont know if this gal is well known and some of her ideas bother me. > A related caveat, some publisher authors of popular books recommend > soaking certain dangerous stones I am running a search right now to see if I can find something else to use as a preservative. Thanks again have a happy and keep smiling Angelina
Guest guest
I create all my essences now by a non submersion method. I create both tintures and sprays. It would depend on what I am making but here is an easy method: I put my mother to be solution in the middle of a large jar or bowl in its own clear glass container. The stones that I want to make essences with around that container with the intention of creating a mother solution. I set in sun or moon depending on what I am making. It creates a much safer method. The method I use the most now is I capture the energy signature of the stone or the plant in my hands and create the essence by infusing that energy into the liquid. So much easier. That way I never have to harm an endangered plant or worry about stones in water. very simple but very effective. Just by 2 cents worth.
