acupuncture for digestive problems

Does anyone have experience with acupuncture/TCM for

digestive problems? I was diagnosed with GERD

(gastroesophageal reflux disease) last year after being treated

repeatedly for allergies, strep throat, etc etc until an ENTsaid it

was reflux. My main problem was a chronic sore throat and

hoarseness...I lost most of my vocal singing range over a period

of 6-7 months. When I didn't respond to meds, I was

recommended for surgery (a fundoplication - where they wrap

the top part of your stmach around itself to put pressure on the

lower esophageal sphincter). Well, a week after surgery I still

had symptoms! My ENT and surgeon refused to believe the

surgery hadn't worked, so I went through more tests after the

surgery.

Anyway, two months after surgery I started acupuncture/TCM and

within two weeks I had regained my vocal range. I'm still seeing

some healing but have occasional " relapses " -- wondering if

anyone has some helpful experience with treating or being

treated for a similar problem.

I would really appreciate your help. I came to this group because

the regular GERD group on didn't seem too appreciative

of my praises for chinese medicine, and it was tough to explain

why or how it's working, and why I think it's so much better than

traditional medicine (PS my surgeon and ENT still haven't

decided on a true diagnosis for my problem, but the

acupuncturist said it was Liver Qi stagnation, deficiency of

stomach Qi and deficiency of spleen Qi).
