I type it out. I also usually consult more than one book when I'm

researching a topic. There was stuff from other books intermingled with the

basic info from the Web book.

Doing this is helping me to learn and keeping me on my toes.

Victoria,

You sure do post some informative (and lengthy) stuff. Do you type it all

out...or are some of these books online somewhere that you cut and paste

from?

  • 1 year later...

My father has been unable to keep anything down for

the past week. If he tries to eat to quickly he

vomits it back up. My mother had read somewhere that

drinking a baking soda solution is good for this. It

seems however, that this only made it worse. It also

seems this raised the level of his potassium according

to his physician. My father has hypertension and is

on medication for this. I was wondering what

acupuncture might be able to do about this.

An asside: I was reading that PC-6 downbears

counterflow and stops vomiting. I am not a student in

TCM so I have only rudimentary knowledge of the theory

of TCM and acupuncture.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You reported your father's condition is too simple. Of cause, P6, R12, St34

and some ear points could reduce the antiperistalsis of stomach, reducing the

symptom, but the best way is to ask his doctor what's reason cause the

symptom of vomiting? Different reason and different disease will use

different method to treat it. Baking soda would raise PH of gastric acid, it

stimulates gastric mucosa to secrete more acid, and maybe it will make

condition worse.

Good Luck to your father!

You can definately press down on PC-6 till it aches and hold it for one

minute on each side. That should help. Also, some fresh slices of ginger

brewed into a tea, or just sucked raw often helps too.

I might also enquire as to what has happened to cause the vomiting, It

may be prudent to answer that question to fix this correctly.
