Sooooo, how do YOU get around it and do the drills? Do you do the drills anyway? Or do the feelings really mean that you don't do the drills? Have you tried tapping the resistance?

 

I suggested to a client that EFT would work on the resistance to tapping and he just got even more entrenched in "I am not doing this stupid drill, it doesn't meet my needs and it is not right for me". I then asked him what needs he was meeting by not doing the drills but he clammed up and we got nowhere fast. I asked him whether he would rather have the pain or do a stupid drill for five minutes - what did he have to lose......still got nowhere....

 

Any hints would be great. gary suggests rephrasing to "I am open to improvements" but I have found that once people baulk at the initial set up phrase they reject the whole system so they throw the baby out with the bathwater!!!!!

Hi,Good question!I seem to experience the same problem too when performing EFT on myself. I feel like a fool talking to myself and have some resistance to saying I accept myself.(are you supposed to say it out loud or in your mind?) Also, I find it hard to keep focussng on the reminder phrase when I'm tapping, my mind seems to wander to other,related thoughts.Also, if I understand correctly, you're supposed to be focussing on the issue you're trying to fix, but usually I feel quite detached from it when speaking the setup and reminder phrases.But then when the feelings hit me over the head, I don't feel like doing the drills.Have a nice dayTim

Tim,

 

If you have a problem with the set-up phrase use the set-up phrase on the

set-up phrase.

 

Even though I have difficulty saying (and or believing) I deeply and

completely....

I deeply and completely...

 

For the other issues mentioned below:

Try this.

1) Determine what the issue is you want to work on

2) Notice where you feel it in your body

3) Measure the intensity of the feeling (0-10)

4) Holler with feeling the set-up phrase inside your head

5) Instead of tapping touch the points and take a full deep breath in and

out (TAB) -end under arm

6) Instead of saying the reminder phrase- focus on the feeling (remember

the issue you are trying to effect is the feeling not the reminder phrase.)

7) Re-measure the intensity

 

The above would be the equivalent of the short version EFT protocol. It is

also the first half of the Shallow PEAT protocol.

 

When the feeling hits you over the head again the above may be a lot easier

to do and so the issue does not hit you over the head again I would suggest

time line work both past and future and also circular processing (doing it

from any others POV involved with the original issue.)
