I hadn't posted but I have been thinking about it. To my way of thinking, doctors deal with illness and disease, naturopaths and alternate health practitioners deal with health and how to maintain and promote it. Two completely different metaprograms and all that goes along with it. This man is tied into the medical professions metaprograms judging by his response to you. He wants a magic pill to fix his immune system. I have to wonder if he is willing to invest any time and effort into healing. I have just started working with a lady with MS. She has a very positive outlook and has obviously researched extensively all sorts of avenues. She knows what supplements to take, which therapies have helped etc. She is going to be a joy to work with. I have also had clients that are so entrenched in their problems that all they want is for me to wave a magic wand and fix them, no interest in diet, supplements etc. A completely different outlook and metaprograms. It is very interesting to listen to how they talk when I get an update from them between sessions.

I am curious as to whether you were dealing with health issues the last time this man was a client of yours, or other issues.

There is a change occurring in some of the doctors that I come across. Years ago there was a doctor in Canada who had his license revoked for studying and using naturopathic medicine. It is still a huge issue but our alternate health magazines do have doctors that cross between the two that are advertising openly. One doctor has opened a natural medicine clinic dealing with women's health. He takes a natural health approach mixed with intelligently recommended medical tests and using the allopathic approach where necessary. It is very refreshing.

I do come across people that are completely tied into their doctor. I always recommend a second opinion and also suggest speaking with a naturopath. If it is too far outside their belief systems then I leave it at that although I have been known to mention cases of misdiagnosis where a second opinion has stopped unrequited surgery. To my mind, the very least anyone should do is look for a second opinion.

How to approach this man ... it is hard to know exactly what to say without knowing your previous experiences with him but I agree with whoever suggested that you remind him of past successes with you. If I am introducing the concept of energy to people I sometimes start with talking about how we feel comfortable with some people and uncomfortable with others. I tie this into energy and then go from there but it sounds as if this man should be familiar with all that.

I would also say to him something along the lines of ... "I had an interesting case the other week where .... (someone gained benefit from energy medicine). If you are completely tied into your doctor's opinion then I am sure you wouldn't be interested but I do have several ideas of ways to help you feel a whole lot better. Of course, it is your health and your decision." Probably not strong enough or forthright enough but I go so much on the person in front of me to determine what to say and how to say it
