Guest guest
I have a little different spin on the story. If she had grown up with Christmas and as an adult has chosen not to participate, perhaps there is a hurt there that she is shielding, maybe her family is gone or doesn't acknowledge her this time of year. By not giving her your gift you are going against your own values regarding the holiday and the whole " spirit of giving " and are letting your ego take over. The point of giving is not in the return you get for your ego's satisfaction, but from the good feeling you get inside for sharing with someone you care about. Chances are that had you given the gift to the intended person there might have been more appreciation than you had expected. This story leaves me cold.
