I have a female patient, age 76 who has a history of ingrown hair follicles

on her head. Currently there are 3 hair follicles nodules on her head,

various sizes. Two along the UB channel, on top of the head and the third

on the GB channel in the back of the head. The patient mentioned her other

siblings has the same problem. According to the patient, the Western

approach is to lance the nodules and squeeze the pus out. The pus is

odorous, don't know what the color is. The nodules will eventually

reappear, not necessarily in the same location, but always on the head.

According to the patient the Western doctor calls then wynn (a cyst

containing sebaceous matter)

Suggestions on how to treat this condition? I was considering surrounding

the nodules, needling into the nodule.

Other information:

Patient is currently being treated with chemical chemo for Lung cancer. This

is her 6th round of chemical chemo. The reason she is seeing me is for

chemo support. She was diagnosis with Lung Cancer and Diabetes in December

2003. She quit smoking in the mid-80ties. She is in good spirits and has

the usually chemo side effects - nausea, fatigue, lack of appetite.

She has white distinct rails on her finger and toe nails. The fingernails

are sensitive/painful to the touch.

No thirst

Breast bone pain after each chemo session, painful with exertion

Slight headaches after each chemo session, usually last on day.

No dizziness, but occasionally feels off balanced

Occasional sore throat, worst with chemo

Pulses are weak and deep. Tongues is slightly red, purple in the Kidney

area and Yin cracks.
