Guest guest
In Chinese medicine the immune system is called " Wei Qi " or defensive Qi. The lungs are responsible for the Wei Qi. The Wei Qi circulates very superficially through the body dealing with anything that is " not self " including pathogens. The ancient Chinese didn't know about auto-immune issues, that is true, but auto-immune issues can be treated with Chinese medicine based on the pattern they present. Some practitioners have had remarkable results treating auto-immune using Chinese medicine. I haven't had much luck treating auto-immune issues myself and tend to refer them out to Western docs, or an herbalist I highly respect her in Phoenix. I have had a few patients come to me for infertility (which I treat a lot) who had lots of auto-immune challenges. I am happy to work with them but prefer to work as a team with their Western doctor. I hope this answers your question and good luck! Christopher Vedeler L.Ac., C.Ht. Oasis Acupuncture http://www.oasisacupuncture.com 8233 N. Pulse say Period wont come today BUT IT DID! thank you so much for your reply! Yes you are right, its a short period (sorry TMI) 3 days only! I wonder if short period is bad according to TCM? Can I also ask you something else. I always see from brochures of acupuncture clinics that acupuncture treats infertility, auto-immune disease, liver problems, etc. and so i told the acu/TCM doctor that i want my reproductive auto-immune issues treated but she said that in chinese medicine there is no such thing as immune system. Then why would they say that they can treat auto-immune disease? marilyn
