Guest guest
I get this question a lot. In general body piercings won't adversely affect meridian energy as the body simply adapts over time to redirect the flow of Qi. There may be a brief period, perhaps as long as a month, where the piercings can affect the meridians the same way acupuncture does, but once the body heals, it is unlikely to cause any pirminite damage. The nipple is on the stomach meridian, and the navel is on the Ren meridian (also related to digestion). That being said, if you have an underlying constitutional weakness and then get a piercing that is on a meridian system, that can set into motion health issues down the road only because of a pre-existing weakness. These tend to be rare in my opinion, and if you have had the piercings for over 6 years, taking them out won't likely make any difference to the underlying issue even if they did cause an imbalance initially. Your body has already adapted to them being there. Christopher Vedeler L.Ac., C.Ht. Oasis Acupuncture http://www.oasisacupuncture.com 8233 N. I have been sick for the past 3 years with a chronic bladder disease, could my piercings have anything to do with it? should I remove them? Is the potential damage reversable? ( I am currently being treated with TCM herbs for my illness with much improvement) thanks!
