Reiki is my special passion. I use it with DEEM, Qigong and other things. While I agree that it's likely that it works with and through the radiant circuits, I totally disagree with the two statements above--it can and often IS taught with great clarity, and " bestow " ? Hardly. I understand that a lot of people have problems with the attunement system, but you need to understand that an attunement is not " bestowing " anything. It's helping the student to open the circuits and centers, just as shaktipat nudges the sleeping serpent. (And an attunement is not shaktipat--some do get the two confused.) Moreover, despite what some will say and/or teach, you don't always have to have someone else do the opening or nudging. It's going to depend on the person, and, in my opinion, what their belief system will allow them to do for themselves. Is an attunement a bestowed blessing per se? Perhaps, but so is something like Donna Eden's Energy Medicine book, Doc Speed's thought provoking and informative messages, and, for that matter, a sunny day in spring. Only in that context. As for flowery language--I guess it's going to depend on who's teaching it, or writing the book, or whatever. Some people are very direct and to the point; others wax poetic; still others might as well be in some other dimension. Takata seemed to favor the flowery language and in my opinion kept everything purposefully vague--just my hunch, but I think she either consciously or unconsciously wanted to create a mystery school type of environment around Reiki. From all I've read about Reiki, I'm not sure that was the original intent. These days, symbols and techniques are easily shared. It's lots harder to create the whole mystery/secret/fantasy around Reiki, and I think that's actually a good thing. You can pretty much get your Reiki coated in pink fluff, or just plain, hold the mayo these days. If you want precise language in the teachings, it's out there, just keep looking. Maybe you could collaborate with a Reiki teacher and help create a manual that nails it all down without the fairy dust? Jeanne
