Just curious, why do you so strongly recommend against

seeing an MD? Also, what about an MD-acupuncturist?

Just curious.

Hi Bernard,

I don't know why the writer said this but I believe he/she is talking about

an MD-acupuncturist and not just an MD. In my state, NY, MD's practice (and get

easily re-embursed) after only 300 hours of training. This is unfortunate

because the real knowledge of acupuncture takes a long time to learn. Sticking

the needles in is easy but knowing how to assess a case so you can put them in

the right places and make the right changes takes a long time. Most all

acupuncturists today have around 2500-3500 hours of training before even

beginning.

Nothing in Western Medical training relates to the way you need to think and

evaluate to do treatment strategy. Today most acupuncturists should know basic

western medicine enough to refer to an MD for the things that they can do well.

Just a thought or two.
