Guest guest
Hello group, Today I met with the Los Angeles Brain and Consciousness group. Since I dislike driving into L.A., you know it took alot to get me there... A certain Dr. Hershel Toomim was the guest of honor. Today's subject matter centered around one of his inventions, the Hemoencephalograhy (HEG)neurofeedback system. At 93 years of age, he is as sharp as a tack. Plus, he is the inventor of the walkie-talkie, and a part that goes into the machinary of airplanes (sorry, I don't recall the exact name at the moment of this part.), in addition to the above. I gathered information on the brain that was particularly interesting. To summarize: 1. The relationship between the brain stem (primitive brain) and ADD. 2. The very complex relationship between the frontal lobes, amygdala, and the regulating mechanism between the two, seeking to retain its balance that sometimes fails to achieve this. This failure is often at the root of depression. (I discovered, much to my surprise, that depression is now considered 'the norm' in our society.) Apparently, this is often an inherited tendency. How reasurring to know that we can restore this balance via prescribed brain exercises. 3. Depression is indicative of over-activity in the brain (see above), rather than under-activity. 4. Your brain's reactive patterns are often forged while you are in utero, often due to physical and/or emotional violence that the mother experiences while pregnant. And this can set the tone for how you react to stress, and life in general, for the rest of your life. Here is more information on Dr. Toomin and his Biofeeback institute: http://www.biocompresearch.org/ If anyone who lives in the greater L.A. area wants to find out more about this group, just drop me a line and I'll send you more information. They're having another meetup within a couple of weeks, not sure exactly when. And they have new and fresh (much of the information gathered on the brain within the past 10 years disproves 'facts' that were considered 'written in stone' on the human brain prior to this period.) subject matter all of the time. I find it glorious that so many new resources are becoming available to us to create great and exciting lives! Many of them become known to us via Doc, through his DVD's, manuals, posts, and seminars. Nutritious food for thought....
